Perlite/Rh problem
    #2583873 - 04/20/04 07:07 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

so far ive done everything i can, ive put about an inch or so of perlite coverng the bottom. all of which was strained in a colender then placed into the terrarium and flattened out. added about 1/2'' of luke warm water, sprayed the sides down lightyl with a 90/10 water/h2o2 mix. i made sure the container is airtight , covered in blankets and set to rest. its been about 5 hours from then and the highest the RH has gotten to was about 41%. i saw a post liek this before but never got any solution. thank you.

What temp is the room at?
Unless you have really low temps I'd say your hygrometer is no good.

Good idea. And yeah, if you're planning on fruiting cubes in that room you should get those temps in the mid 70's.

the setup is in my closet, thats the only reason why the temps are slightly lower , but i can always get heat in there.  yet still in my room it isnt much warmer than that.

i just wrapped the sensor of my hygrometer in a warm towel, it got to 108 degrees but still didnt get anything above 42%. so maybe it is just a peice of crappa'.

anyway. if i cant get teh temps up anyhigher, at anypoit should i maybe get the submergible fish tank heater in there? maybe set it in a dish of water ? i dunno im just throwin out ideas. hmmmmmm.... :wexican:

hey...i was the guy with the same problem in the other post....it turns out my rubbermaid lid wasn't air tight...i had to cover to top with seran wrap before i got the right rh...then the next day my hygrometer broke too...but just might wanna make sure your lid really is air tight...i had to closely examine the construction of it before i realized it

If your hygrometer is busted, then its busted; don't worry about your humidity anymore, it should be fine.

Fish tank heater is a good idea.

im not too worried about the hygrometer, more of that i was some prime conditions for my little guys to grow in. as i understand humidity has alot to do with fruiting.O well though, trial and error..trial and error.

aaaanyways,i dont know if i can get it any warmer in the room, if i set a little container of water and put the heater in that, turn it up just enough to humidity and heat in there, would that work?
