Psilocybe Subaeruginosa. Outdoor grow log * 1

I'm attempting an outdoor grow of Subs.

• 21/01/19 Spores to pine shavings+brf mix. Colonized about 40%



• 12/02/19 The spawn was put into a cardboard lined planter. It was only at 70%. I didn't wait untill 100%, because It looked like the jar might stall. Luckily when I opened the jar, it smelt fine; a little earthy.




• 24/02/19 Spawn has taken over sub :tongue2:



• 21/03/19 I've been adding hardwood woodchips, and the planter is now about 4 or 5 inches full, the myc is steadily overtaking woodchips and I have mixed the top layer.

Don’t expect to get a lot if anything from that. You need a much bigger substrate. I would break that up and mix it into a woodchip/soil mix. And fill the planter.

Good stuff Nein!

I'm attempting to do some outdoor Subs as well this year. Cool to see them eating a soft wood. I had planned on only using hardwoods. If wood lovers (or any of the WL) will colonize pine I'm in business!!!

I'll definitely be following.

Are you adding more chips/shavings?

Have you thought of using hard wood fuel pellets? At my local tractor supply they have both hard and soft. But to be honest I don’t think it matters a lot, it’s more about the microbes that coexist in the wood chips...or so I’ve heard.

Yeah, I'm going to top up the sub once it eats through the top layer of cardboard :smile:. I will mix in hardwood tambark that has been sitting around in nature (that hopefully has symbiotic microbes for the myc).

As for not using grain, I've heard animals like to dig it up and eat it.

Mission aborted for now, seems like they turned to Mush.
