pinning problems...
    #2582777 - 04/20/04 02:37 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

well i'm in the process of attempting my first casing right now, and i'm having some pinning problems...

I cased a mycobag with verm/coir oyster shell, i patched after 2 days, then by day 4 it had eaten though most of it pretty evenly. I then put it in the fruiting chamber (sterlite w/perlite) and fanned several times a day for the next 3 days or so, but the myc seemed to keep growing even though the temp was about 72 degrees.

I was worried about overlay so I through it the fridge for 24 hours and then placed it back in the fruiting chamber. Now it's been a little over a week and still no signs of pins (although the cold shock seemed to keep the myc from continueing to grow)... I'm just wondering if I should continue doing the temperature cycling (i read a post that it was supposedly speed the pinning rapidly) or if i should just leave it and keep fanning?

I realize I may just be being impatient, but when i've done cakes in the past it usually took me only 5 days to get pins.

I think its just time now, as you fruited for a while then
cold shocked, you might have prolonged it all a little.

I would just watch and wait for now, though temp
cycling might work, I would turn the fridge up to maybe
20
