Think i found salivia while on a hike in E. TN

I have a phot damn thig says error upload limit for the day has been lused but i havnt gotten any phots loaded so i ll have to wait for it to repop just putting this post up so i dont forget to post it later. I went ahead and checked errods sight just wanted to double back with you guys. Will have the pic in soon

i'm in the same area and have seen those a lot, pretty sure they aren't a salvia though. a lot of garden centers sell the red flowered salvia around here, so it may be a stray one

Hey organic we should do some hikeing some time then been looking for some nice places to go been sticking close to the creeks and river.

To give it a definitive test to even put it in the mint family it would have to have a square stalk/stem. If it does then it's a mint.

However i've seen this plant before in the woods in warm weather and it's not salvia. You can look at the leaves and see the teeth in the leaves. Salvia divinorum doesn't have that. Notice the veining has large secondary veins. And finally the stalk is most likely not square thus it's not even in the mint family of which Salvia divinorum is a part of.

I can't remember the name of this find but it'll come to me in time.

Oh yeah i just noticed the title. E. TN: would mean someone would have planted it there purposely sometime recently as salvia wouldn't have wintered in Tennessee. None the less it's not salvia anyway.

doesnt that goes for just about any salvia plant like salvia officinalis and so on that they dont have tags in leafs?

There's hundreds of salvias so i wouldn't feel comfortable saying all or any. Officianalis has slender short leaves compared to divinorum.

yeah,  i just dont think ive seen a salvia specie with tagged leafs thats all.but your right of course, its too many to say something like that :smile:
