Store casing in fridge for patching later or re-pasteurize?
    #25823557 - 02/19/19 07:40 PM (5 years, 1 month ago)

I have some casing (peat, verm, gypsum, lime) left over and I'm curious if I can store it in the fridge if patching is needed later in my tub? It's in a jar with aluminum foil on top.

If so, how long can I store it? Or should I always re-pasteurize before patching?

Also, do cubes benefit from patching?

I am 100% sure it can be stored in freezer for 1 month or 2 and thawed and used. But no Idea about fridge.

I have no data to back it up but I freeze manure based subs within days after pasteurization if I haven't used them and would likely re-pasteurize if time permits.

Peat based casings - 2 weeks at room temp in a sealed mason jar before I think about re-pasteurization.

Coir based subs - a month or more if properly pasteurized in a sealed mason jar.
