I have no idea where to get fuel pellets for my substrate at this point... everywhere is on backorder around here and I can't seem to find a reasonable place to buy them online. Anyone have any suggestions? They're about to be out of season too... :facepalm:

Order it online.

It's winter up here and lot's of folks burning wood.  I still have many pounds of apple wood.  Hoping I get some morels around my apple tree's.  Might just spread these apple cuts.

A lot of pellet mills went bankrupt last year because of a lot of reasons.  I know last year a lot of big box stores didnt buy any bc they didn't sell much in 2017.  My local pellet mill left 2500 tons sitting outside ...i was able to pick up 25 for $80 each.

Anyway just look for the wood fuel pellet trade association website.  It lists all of the mills by state.

I've hit all of the usual suspects in my locale, and none of the available are hardwood.  Even bought the one bag that I couldn't tell one way or the other but it turned out to be softwood too.  Less than 5$ for the bag so not a big loss but frustrating.  I am throwing a handful of them in a lot of different mixes and even tried them as the primary sub with alfalfa pellet supplement for a really aggressive oyster.  Its colonizing really well but will have to wait to see if it will fruit. If it does....  :dancer:

I actually found some, just had to drive about an hour away. I have enough now to last me till next winter. The store I got them from went through 22 tons in less than 2 hours today. Next year I'm going to buy a few tons and sell them for $10 a bag when everyone runs out in town. lmao.
