Exotics pinning on agar
    #25818904 - 02/17/19 01:15 PM (28 days, 20 hours ago)

Wanting to start some exotics. I'd like to start directly with a handful of clones rather than having to start them all multispore. I would likely do a grow of multispore of each as well to have more specimens to choose from, but to have other options I'd like to get some agar to pin for a clone.

These are the exotics I have currently. My main question is anybody know off hand which if any or all of these will pin off agar?
Psilocybe mexicana : Jalisco
Psilocybe tampanensis : Pollock
Panaeolus (Copelandia) cyanescens : Hawaiian
Psilocybe cyanescens : ?

And then for cubes I've got Penis Envy and Penis Envy Uncut already on agar, I may make a few more of each them though. Not sure if they're any harder to pin on agar than most cubes.

And then if I'm making the agar with intention of initiating a pin on each of them should I make up the agar any differently. High nutes? Softer? Large plates/jars/rounds? Thicker depth? And estimated time frame from germination to pinning like a month or two?

Feel free to post any pics of agar pinning exotics or cubes.

Thanks for any replies. I will eventually update with results.

Psilocybe mexicana : Jalisco - Yes but you get stones
Psilocybe tampanensis : Pollock - Yes but you get stones
Panaeolus (Copelandia) cyanescens : Hawaiian Yes
Psilocybe cyanescens : ? not sure

I know this because every now and again I become a lazy fucker and growth on plates go hand in hand with that state.

Roger Rabbit says the best stone producers should have at least 4 stone grow on a plate invitro.

Okay, thanks right on edmunter. I guess I could just clone each stone then instead. With 3 or 4 to each plate that would give quite a few clones to grow out. The Ps Cyans I'm not planning on growing right away anyways, so I'm not too concerned about that one anyways. Just figured I might as well try to get an answer on that one at the same time.

Any advice on preparing agar that would be most suited for pins and/or stones? Or time frame for stones? Hopefully not the many months that jars usually need for full on stones?

Not sure on time frame but i assume little stones would form in mabye a month? Thats just based off of spores to BRF. Since Psilocybe Cyanescens are a wood lover I doubt it would pin on agar

Purely anecdotal but brf agar always pins like mad for me.

Cubes pin like weeds and gave me plenty of stones on p tamp plates.

Okay thanks guys. I will try to find some BRF. If I do I'll make a batch of each; BRF agar and PDA agar.
