The problem with the Psychedellic message in modern day * 2
    #25818804 -

I was discussing Mescaline with a friend of mine and resumed an interesting line of thought that I had a long time ago and I wanted to get the communities opinion as well

I will answer this question, “ Why isn’t Mescaline searched for very much at all today, why is it’s popularity so low ?”

Now the simple and shallow answer to this is money, “oh it costs to much to make,”
But then you get th REAL answer after discussing that at length , “well what if I spend the tine and money and it isn’t straight CRAZY like LSD (or any other preferred psych)

What can you pull from a line like that ?
Terrence McKenna one states that Mescaline “didn’t fit the bill” as a teacher compared to things like LSD , DMT, Ect.
This is fully laughable as I, and many civilizations for thousands of years have learned the true psychedellic truth from it
But do you know what a line like that confirms ? And the line I stayed before about the cost ?

There’s an entire culture of people out there PRETENDING to look for truth and happiness when in reality, they are looking for an insane high to make them go “woah damn that’s crazy loo at that wow”
They confuse truth with insane cheesy trips forgetting that the point of life is as SIMPLE as what’s right in front of you all the time
They don’t want happiness and inner love
They want “robot gnomes” or “jesters” or whatever garbage the mainstream psychedellic media is bombarding you with
In this , what I refer to as , “the age of entertainment”
That is why mescaline isn’t searched out
It CAN show you insane things believe me
But it isn’t always that way
And so people don’t see a value in it anymore

And this itself signifies a huge issue
The plants are all that will save the world
And we are even mixing our ego in with those

Shameful
Just purely shameful

You do realize that all the things you listed including mescaline are synthesized from plants or fungus right? I think you meant to say peyote. And peyote doesn't cost a lot to produce, you just have to have patience and knowledge to grow it... Then again adding to what you said, most people don't have that and want instant gratification. All they want is the instant wow factor and not fully immerse themselves in it. I believe all psychedelics are plant medicine (The ones derived from plants anyway not synthetic analogue crap), but a lot of people just use them as party drugs or to escape reality... Never taking any meaning out of the experience and bringing it back to everyday life. Continually doing the drugs isn't going to fix anything, you have to apply the message to your life and not expect it to fix everything for you.

Re: The problem with the Psychedellic message in modern day [Re: Jooceman]
    #25818856 -

That is incorrect
Mescaline is the active compound found in peyote and many other cactus
Many of which are also potent
I don’t do anything synthetic
There IS synthetic Mescaline but I’m no5 talking about that at all
Mescaline being synthetic and peyote somehow being its only real form is a common misconception for those new to it
Thank you tho

And I agree! They are all very different but super similar in many ways. Mescaline is more closely related to MDMA, but I've got more intense visuals off of clean pure MDMA than DMT/LSD/Mushrooms even. You just have to eat good shit...

You can extract mescaline from peyote dude lol... I know a molecular biologist... I'm not talking about synthetic mescaline either. DMT is not an analogue. LSD is not an analogue... They're all extracted from plants or fungus lol. Thanks though.

Mescaline is easy to extract. Same process as dmt like jooce said. There's also a few LEGAL cacti u can extract mescaline from. All the "torch" cacti.

Lsd isn't extracted. Lsa is extracted from ergot and turned into Lsd.

Re: The problem with the Psychedellic message in modern day [Re: Tripsten]
    #25818867 -

To get pure mescaline without the cactus you have to extract it... that is basic knowledge... That doesn't make it not natural. I actually know quite a bit about this exact topic and its a pretty frequent topic among my friend group. And extraction doesn't change the molecular structure of the chemical that gets you high... Its still mescaline. And there is both natural extract mescaline and synthetic mescaline. Think before you assume everyone is not as intellectual as you. I never said it was synthetic. I said it was extracted from a plant lmao.

I think he's just confused on what the word synthesize means. Anything that's "synthesized" is synthetic. Real mescaline is not "synthesized", it's extracted and refined.

Because you're degrading the other substances... its not the molecules that are the problem it's the people consuming them. That's the more accurate correlation with why its not as popular. I actually live near a place where the native americans have ceremony monthly and they do it entirely natural. Peyote button banquets. Outsiders are invited in and many of my friends have participated or been invited... And they are thoroughly appreciating the medicine. As with anything else they do. No matter the molecule.

Natives find it very useful. TK was obviously an extremist of psyches. Just cuz it didn't get him off, doesn't mean it's not useful..

But can u clarify what u meant in ur OP? I think we were just confused on ur question and started going back and forth.

there is no heirarchy

lots of people want to and do use cactus

mushrooms grow everywhere, lsd can be made 100k+ doses at a time and distributed as paper... and both come ready for consumption. thats why theyre more widely used

Re: The problem with the Psychedellic message in modern day [Re: nube424]
    #25818972 -

In low to medium doses mescaline is not as mind blowing as other psychedelics. The mind keeps pretty clear and it's less visual compared to others.

High doses are different, though. It's a unique, deep & powerfull experience, just as powerfull as lsd or shrooms can be.

But high doses are very expensive (a dose of pure mescaline costs as much as 20 hits of acid), or found in a lot of plantmaterial that has to be ingested or brewed.
Only very few western people grow and ingest cacti.

It's either too expensive, or too time consuming to get more popular I guess.

Cactus is a great teacher medicine.  It shows you things about yourself, like all the plant medicines do.  But it also seems to stay with you for a long time after the trip and keep guiding you in a way that is unique.  It lacks the interdimensional fireworks of the DMT medicines that are taking off in popularity.  Its just its own thing, very deep and healing.  But it takes time and commitment to explore.  It takes years to build up a collection.  No one likes to chop up their plants.  Its for those who are in it for long game, with patience and commitment, who dont need the aliens and hyperspace.  Cactus is gaining in popularity.  But these plants grow slowly.  The impatient ones will move on to something else.

No way. I am stating that an intense high is similar to walking a narrow path between two cliffs.

One cliff is called 'a neurotic episode', and the other cliff is called 'satisfaction in the face of playful occupation'.

If this is about molecular structure, then possibly part of what separates mescaline from tryptamines is that mescaline shows greater activity as a dopamine receptor agonist, compared to tryptamines. Still, I don't think I could distinguish cactus tea from LSD, but I don't have much experience with either one.

Well, I've never done mescaline but it seems like the total opposite of lsd. Lsd visuals are completely unique. And the body high feels like electricity. Well atleast with the doses I get. They're mic'd pretty high.. 1 tab is almost too much if it's been awhile. Mescaline sounds smooth and gentle. Lsd is not smooth and gentle unless it's weak.

Mescaline can be just as intense as LSD or mushrooms, at least for me. I don't know why so many describe it as "gentle".

Maybe it just seems more gentle cuz it comes on alot slower? Idk, like I said I havnt done mescaline yet. But with L, I'm full blown tripping in 30 minutes and spun the fuck out for the next 4 hours. People don't describe mescaline like that at all... I'll have to try it for myself and see I guess. I'm sure it depends alot on the dose too. How much mescaline do u dose breeg?

I have a very fast metabolism, but cactus tea hits me within a half hour, just like mushrooms or LSD. You definitely need to try it for yourself nube. I'd recommend tea from 1 foot of bridgesii. Tea from 1-1.5 ft always did me in. Damn, this really makes me want to do it again - been way too long.

I've never done refined mescaline (extracted or otherwise), so all my comments are based on tea.

And Idk if I could stomach tea. I can't even stomach shrooms. Idk why, just really ducks my stomach up. I may try tea, but was planning on a little a/b extraction.. Just 1 dose worth to try to avoid stomach issues. All the chems i need i can get at work for free

I hope this is the last post of the thread cause getting anything sensical out of a good portion of this community is ridiculous

I started a thread with a point to make
That I personally felt the psychedellic message from plants and fungi, the same message talked about for centuries is complicated by a culture of entertainment and as some one else who understood put it , instant gratification ,
To back this up I used the declining popularity of mescaline and a singular quote from a popular psychedellic figure which illustrated this and wanted other people in their own psychedellic journeys to explain their true feeling and opinions about this but clearly my point is correct, and for some the psychedellic journey seems to have only boosted their ego

The first many replies where about not knowing what synthesis is, and arguing about WHAT mescaline itself is
The next reply were people attempting to reply to my point and I’m grateful
Then
Came the few who weren’t able to understand and instead  of just accepting that and asking me what I meant wanted to be a dick in nature out of insecurity and argue like we are all back in school
As if them personally not being able to understand me means something wrong with what I’ve written
Even though many other users have stated that it was pretty clear and obvious what I’m stating
And I’m sorry
But it is,
Thank you for allowing your insecurities to annoy me to the point where I’m completely abondonign thread
Truly the near definition of trolling
However it is neat and a little laughable that the answer to the mere title of the thread can be easily seen in the replies to it lol
That’s alll

What does instant gratification have to do with psychedelics though? They can take an hour or more to kick in and for most offer no guarantee of pleasure or euphoria. They're too unpredictable and long lasting with the chance of a terrible experience to really call them instant gratification or easy entertainment.

Some people definitely use them for entertainment, but from what I've seen the strongest voices in the community are promoting them as tools of self-growth, healing and discovery, that should be taken with caution and respect. Lots of people take them at festivals and concerts, but I actually think that may be the closest thing we have right now to how our ancestors used them. Achieving ecstatic states around the community and with lots of music, there's a lot to learn there that words don't justify.

Not sure where mescaline fits in, availability has always been low so it's always been way less popular. There's still thousands every year going to cactus retreats in central/south america and/or growing their own.

I just don't see the connection I think you're talking about. The people I know who use psychedelics seem to be the ones who are least into society's instant gratification and constant entertainment trend.

I'm probably still not on topic though.

Your above post would be more easily understood if you wrote it like this:
I misread your post when you stated, "It's never been so popular". I interpreted that as, "It has never been popular". If that is the case, my bad.

Your writing is hard to understand because you use your own grammar that is formatted like a poem. Sometimes it has to be read several times to know what you are talking about. Most people probably don't bother.

As for your argument, I agree that most people use psychedelics as entertainment. It can be fun to throw yourself down the rabbit hole and see where you end up.

Using mescaline's unpopularity relative to other psychs is where you went wrong. As has been stated, its unpopularity is due to the fact that it requires a lot of raw material to make a dose and the raw material is harder to come by. 250g of MHRB is enough for 100+ breakthroughs if your yield is good, 1 spore syringe can net you a lifetime supply of shrooms. Cactus is simply a bigger pain in the ass. If it was more readily available, it would be abused for entertainment in the same fashion as DMT, LSD, shrooms, etc. It's unpopularity is not because it delivers a guaranteed meaningful trip and is somehow immune to being abused for entertainment.

:werd:

I totally agree.

I know there are some folks who would consider taking psychedelics in such a setting as a festival/gathering to be purely "recreational" , purely hedonistic, and even "disrespectful" to the cactus or mushroom etc etc etc....

....but I actually view these sorts of settings as being analogous to what "we" humans have always done...Like you said, achieving ecstatic/trance states via music/dance and surrounded by community.

The festivals/gatherings I attend (mostly relatively small/intimate sized) every spring and fall, and the way I go about my use of things like mushrooms, and how I dance myself into different states, have become very much a "ritual" for me over the past 10+ years and a way of me recognizing/celebrating the cycles around our sun....It's a way to "dance" off & shed a bunch of shit (stress, built up negative emotions, etc), it's very refreshing and usually an ultimate "re-charge" for my soul.

The lines between "recreational" or "spiritual" or "medicinal" are all very blurry to me...it's all the same to me  ....Some of my most "spiritual" exepriences have been while dancing at festivals all night under the stars & moon and into the sunrise. Things that would not occur if I was sitting alone in my room in absolute silence & darkness (but I do also enjoy tripping in silence/darkess when at home lol)

Funny and probably why "the message" is being diluted.

I do not think everyone is ment to get it yet...  some of it is refined characters exploring what is.. which can be fun and beneficial.. and some of it is 'substance abuse', for now.

With out a cultural history/relationship with entheogens.. use can be very confuzing.

Tripping at a concert can be a great, authentical socially merging experience. Some people are toally against this as someone else wrote. And some times its a real idiot move.

With physcs the saying "its not what you do, but how you do it" specially applies.

Western culture will adjust and the shared mental understanding of "how" will be more understood by the masses over time i believe.

Everything will be OK no need to stress or expect too much from people. Once we take responsibility and do our personal part, that is litterally all we can do.

Hey that's the ticket. :laugh2:

I think maybe your mistake was mentioning mescaline in the OP of a general post.  I've never done it but what I've heard corroborates what some people have said here about the effects. But yeah I get this isn't about some particular psychedelic.

Maybe it's the internet and the shortening of attention spans.  When I started with mushroom cult back in the 80's I had to teach myself mostly through trial and error how to grow them.  But I wanted to do it because I wanted to explore the effects of these manifestly sacred substances.  And I run into people (synchronicity) who share that kind of respect pretty often.  So I can't buy that the "culture" is all fucked up.

Ok, so what you meant:

Quote:
I started a thread with a point to make
That I personally felt the psychedellic message from plants and fungi, the same message talked about for centuries is complicated by a culture of entertainment and as some one else who understood put it , instant gratification ,

OK that's your opinion.  In some respects it's true, but you know, it's probably always been true.  So somebody (whoever they were) didn't like mescaline?  Hell, Jim Morrison didn't like datura, out of the full spectrum of drugs.  But there's good reason for that, having tried it once.

I get what you're saying, but IME there are no inherently superior psychedelics.  All the plant teachers have something to offer the curious.  But historically, of course, you can only have access to the ones that grow wild where you live.  For me that was mushrooms - yeah liberty caps!  Any of them, if you explore properly, will take you to the spirit realms.  Which is pretty much the ultimate destination, for shamans at least.

If people have access to more easily used substances, human nature sort of dictates that that's what they'll use.  And yeah, the easier the access, the less the respect, generally.

You can smell the insecurity from the amounts of "lol"s you write.

I live far up north, no type of cacti grow naturally on my entire continent. I haven't even been able to find LSD and I have searched, I can however find plenty of potent mushrooms every fall. I have read about the effects of Mescaline and it sounds amazing, and I actually like your theory. The issue I have is with how you present it, you're presenting this like you've found the answer and what you're saying is true.

Quote:
There’s an entire culture of people out there PRETENDING to look for truth and happiness when in reality, they are looking for an insane high to make them go “woah damn that’s crazy loo at that wow”

You're also making a huge generalization here where I think people could take offense. This isn't the experience that, dare I say most, people have had with psychedelics. Have you made any kind of study showing this? How have you come to this conclution? I think that no one is pretendning, they might fool themselves though, thinking that going deeper will solve all of their problems, but as you said.
