Got a random question about customs.

I was reading about that big ice bust on it’s way to Australia and wondered, is it easier to get things through customs going out of the country than it is getting something into a country or is it all the same protocol?  Are they handled in the same place, incoming/outgoing?

i have no evidence to support my opinion, but i feel that huge shipments, like that one headed to Australia, are operational with the help of gov't officials along the way. i think (again without any concrete facts) that the bust happened because the cartel refused to pay off the border officials.

There is little scrutiny going out of a country, the exact opposite usually applies to goods coming into a country though.  No one really cares what is sent out of the country to a degree.

If you are asking if border force pays the same amount of attention for things going out as opposed to things going into Australia, you'd be surprised to know they care only for stuff going in, unless they have special intelligence from their own sources, then they can tip off LE overseas apart certain shipments out of Australia. They work together.
