Cultivation inside a greenhouse

I'm thinking of moving my little project to a greenhouse with little to no disturbance. As of right now I am doing shoeboxes, but my plan is to expand to 1-2 unmodified monotubs (what Bod described).

What are the common problems with having colonizing and fruiting tubs/shoeboxes in a greenhouse?
Contams? Insects s.a. roaches, flys, etc? Environmental variables (temp, RH, etc)?

Also, a little off topic but anyway: what kind of store should I look for to find big baggies of race horse oats?

Putting a tub or shoebox in a greenhouse is like driving a car inside a bus. You don't need a fruiting chamber for fruiting Chambers.

So trays/open containers would work just fine? I want to put them in the storage area of the GH, so they don't get disturbed by unexposed ones. Possibly wrapped in plastic (grocery/transparent-ish white trash) bags.

What type of greenhouse are you talking about man? You mean like a large greenhouse to grow plants in?

Yeah, that's what it is. Not a grow tent or anything, rather actual building for plants :laugh:

Gotcha.  If it gets crazy hot you wouldn't want to colonize spawn in there but putting tubs during spawn run/fruiting would be fine.

I would be worried about bugs. Plants often harbor fungus gnats in the soil- they will wreck your day man
1 gnat lays like 10,000 eggs and they'll infest your substrate, eat it, make way for contams etc. They look like fruit flies.

It goes up to 85F on a hot winter day, however the area I am planning to use is a little cooler. I doubt I will colonize grain in there, anything >80F is a no-no from what I've read here.
Do you think gnats and bugs are still a big concern if I'm having mushies separated from plants? And is there a way to protect the substrate against them? I was thinking of putting tubs/shoeboxes in transparent plastic bags and poke little holes in them, hardly double/tripple the size of a gnat. Or making holes in the lid, covered with breathing tape (the one suggested for use on PF cakes).

What style of tubs do you use? The time I had gnats, they did manage to get into the monotubs stuffed with poly fill (6 hole configuration).

But I switched from poly fill to micropore tape, I start with 2 layers over the bottom holes and 1 on the top (you can dial in by adding more tape- add another half layer over the holes etc).
They might have a harder time getting into those :shrug:

Shoeboxes as of right now, and soon I’m planning into scaling up to bod’s unmodified 54qt monotubs. However, I might stick to shoeboxes (just add a few more) due to their harvest/dunk/maintenance convenience and lower chance of contaminating the whole grow.

Most of the shoeboxes you can fruit 2 side by side in a regular monotub (sterilite tub purple handles), just put them in with the lids off and fruit like you would a regular mono
It might be a good option if you use micropore with it
