Hey all,

First time grow post on here - have done several rounds of BRF cakes (Orissa spores - a LOT of fun growing and using them) so now giving the good ol' shoebox a go. Rye berries and pCVG small scale. Innoc'd a quart of berries each with Red Boy and PES Amazonian then after a shake and wait did a G2G to another quart each.

The Red Boy took longer to colonize (not surprised) but one quart got wet spot and didn't go too far (kinda sweet smelling when I opened it). BINNED that one.



On the left we have the PES Amazonian 2qt spawn berries 1.5qt pCVG and 0.5qt pCVG top layer and was mixed on Feb 3rd (8 days ago).

On the right we have Red Boy 1qt spawn berries 1.5qt pCVG and 0.5qt top layer also mixed on Feb 3rd.

Have just tonight dub-tubbed the PES Amazonian (I have spare tubs...) and it seemed quite dry so did a mist till there were droplets formed. Hope I didn't mess up!

Have the tubs in a place with a fairly consistent 25C/77F temperature +/- a couple of degrees. I've been logging the humidity and temp in there with another project of mine based on a raspberry pi and a good quality weather station grade sensor I had lying around. May have to move them to cooler climes when fruiting, not that it gets crazy high in there so may see how it goes.

Lessons learned so far:
 
  • Using "expensive" bought LC was no better than spore solution IMHO.
  • PES Amazonian colonizes from solution onto rye and then into substrate SUPER fast.
