Zip lock bag SGFC

So I ran out of space in my SGFC and had a tray ready to fruit, so I took my leftover perlite and a 2.5 gallon Ziploc bag with 1/4 inch holes poked every 2 inches and filled it with 6 inches of wet perlite to see how it performs. Just a little experiment

Maybe point a fan at it for air exchange since it is such a small space?

Dont's seal the bag at the top, leave a small sliver open.

le: that's a lot of perlite you have there : )). A quarter of that is plenty

If I remember right, mexi like a bit more FAE but other than that they grow almost exactly the same as cubes

True, from reading though some have higher FAE requirements than others like pans and mexicana are supposed to have higher requirements

Update - well the bag with perlite still shows no growth sadly, but the bag without perlite has 2 mushrooms almost ready!

I would recommend cutting a hole in the side of the zip lock bag and taping some polyfill or a filter patch to it to allow more FAE.

I have 1/4 inch holes roughly every 1.5-2 inches, ive been leaving the tops unzipped as well since when the top is closed it doesnt get enough FAE

The mushrooms would get tall and spindly as they starve for air and the moisture wouldn't evaporate off the surface
