Was making a little less than 40k in retail. Probably around 5k now because I'm in a full time master's program. Once I graduate if I can land 2 per diem gigs it should be 80-90k working 35 hours... which will be crazy after working 50 hours a week and making half that for the last decade.

You guys are all super rich compared to me. Tell me how you managed to get your shit together because the only opportunities around here are flipping burgers or dealing drugs. There are dead end trades like welding HVAC etc but that's it and from what I can tell those cap out around 40k with no room for advancement (again in MY area). I'm leaning towards one of those trades but it's just bleak AF guys

820 and about $200,000 if I work 40 hours a week all year. It could range between $100 and $500 depending on business and my personal life. It will probably be on the lower end this year. I live in an expensive city though so it really isn't as much as it seems, but is good for me.

Get a degree in Engineering and move into management asap

There is also real money in sales but I lack the social skills for that.

Guess Im doing alright. Work 36 hours a week and have 6,5 weeks of paid vacation per year.

My mom was in sales for snap on.  Made good money but she got taxed a lot.  She doesn't know how to not spend.  None of us do.

Sales is a lot of stress and memory issues hurt that badly.

Trades pay off but you have to work a fuck ton of hours. I work like 60+ hours a week. If you are good they will keep you working as much as they can.



If you want to work part time be a school teacher or some shit.

Some folks if not a lot of people, are in dead end jobs.  Got a buddy I grew up with that moved up in manufacturing sales.  He has a charm and is not stupid.  They ended up making something for NASA that went to space.  He's real proud of that.

I was in a small town place like that and I moved to a bigger city for job opportunity and training. HVAC is not a dead end job. 40K is a good wage and then you can make double that once you learn the trade and can do side jobs. Eventually you can open your own business and make as much as you want.

I started as an electricians apprentice at $8 an hour and worked my ass off and learned as much as I could and now I can get $100 to $200 an hour and a lot of times I just drive to somebodys house and I reset their outlet or turn their circuit breaker on. Easy +$100 for literally 10 minutes of work and then onto the next job.

Seriously, it's bullshit. HVAC, Electricians, Welders and a lot of other tradesmen make some serious bank compared to your typical joe. A lot of the work isn't easy and it's pretty rough on the body in the long run but if you are young, get your ass to work in a trade if you aren't doing anything else.

And don't tell me there isn't a need for HVAC or an electrician where you live ichug...

Yeah and once you have your journeyman's card you have a job for the rest of your life. It doesn't matter if I get fired or quit a job because my union hall will always get me another job. So I don't have to put up with anyone's bull shit :smile:. As long as I pay my 30 something dollars a month I can  try a different career or start my own busines. I'm completely free and will never have to worry about money. That's worth more than any college degree in my opinion. You have to be a hard worker and have the ability to work long hours.  It's worth looking into :smile: ...
