Ps. Caerulescens grow log

Ok,
Had to put my Caerulescens on the back burner for a bit but I’ve still been working with it on agar. Think I’ve found a new phenotype to try cultivating and some great info from @CaptainFuture’s grow logs.
Method:
~ Spores from a wild prints I took this fall cleaned up on agar. (One from the summer and another I found in late October I believe) ~ Switched to oats and have had much better results. Used RGS on my first attempt and ended up with contaminants. ~ Substrate: 30% straw, 30% straw pellets, 20% pine shavings, 20% Hpoo (Sterilized for 2.5 hrs.) ~ Casing for SB #1 and myco bag #1: Sifted peat moss~perlite~vermiculite and CaCO3 to bring the pH to between 7 - 7.5. I’ll have to double check the ratios. ~ Casing for SB #2: Miracle Gro Potting Mix. Will see how this does. This mix already has added nutrients so all I did was add water.
Just transferred my GS to sub so here we go!
Also have another culture incubating on oats that I’ll spawn into a separate SB when ready. This will give me one SB spawned on rye grass seed and one on oats.
Sorry I haven’t posted any updates recently but the SB I spawned on RGS ended up getting contaminated.
However, I transferred the jar I spawned on oats last night and could smell the difference as soon as I opened the jar. The RGS didn’t smell bad but the oats had that signature Caerulescens smell. Kind of like fresh cut cucumber.
Less than 24 hrs later and already starting to recover!:-)
Day 5: (Oats GS)
Colonization of sub is progressing nicely.
Day 10:
Cased SB #1 which was spawned on 2/15 using peat, verm and perlite. Also tested the pH of the soil where they grow wild in my yard so I added some CaCO3 to increase the pH to between 6-7.
Myco bag #1 is colonizing much faster and should be ready to case soon!
Day 12:
Myco bag #1, spawned on 2/20 fully colonized:
First attempt at fruiting from a myco bag:
SB #1 cased on 2/25 recovering:
Day 18:
Myco bag #2 -
Transferred to SB #2 on 3/03 and let it recover.
3/05 - Cased with Miracle Grow Potting Mix. This mix already had additives that brings the pH to between 7 & 8.
SB #1 - Sub is very healthy. Casing is not colonizing which is good, but there’s a good bit of action going on just beneath the surface.
All 3 grows are now in fruiting conditions. Maintaining temp between 74 - 76F and haven’t really been worrying about the humidity. RH is my room is between 45 - 50%. No signs of pinning yet but they can take a while so I’m not stressing. Myco bag #1 was looking very wet so I left the clip off and bag cracked to allow more evaporation while at work. Will post an update on it soon!
Very encouraged with how things are going so far. By far my best looking attempts to date!
Also found an old plate that looks like it’s starting to pin. Unwrapped the plate to let it breath. Will be badass if I can get some pin clones going.:-)

Why did you put your sterilized substrate into unsterilized environment without spawn? You want to ensure contaminants have a head start?

I guess this was confusing statement:

Yes, the SB in the pics was with rye grass seed spawn. The oats GS will go into a separate SB. Edited original post for clarification.

About 22 hrs since transferring my GS and the myc is starting to recover! Nothing substantial but heading in the right direction.

Update 03-05-19:
Myco bag #2 -
Transferred to SB on 3/03 and let it recover.
3/05 - Cased with Miracle Grow Potting Mix. This mix already had additives that brings the pH to between 7 & 8.
SB #1 - Sub is very healthy. Casing is not colonizing which is good, but there’s a good bit of action going on just beneath the surface. Looks very similar to Pan myc.
All 3 grows are now in fruiting conditions. Maintaining temp between 74 - 76F. No signs of fruits yet but they can take a while so I’m not stressing. Myco bag #1 was looking very wet so I left the clip off and bag cracked to allow more evaporation while at work. Will post an update on it soon!

Update 03-13-19:
Day 24 - SB#1 is starting to develop hyphal knots! The sub seemed overly wet so I took the lid off and put it in my GH which is currently set at 75% RH. This has allowed the moisture in the sub to evaporate but the casing has stayed wet.
MB #1 is showing the most growth of the 3 experiments and I noticed my first primodia forming! Sub was looking too wet in the bag as well so I left it open in my GH for a few days. Once the sub was dry and it looked like dry patches of the casing were showing I took it out, watered the dry patches with a syringe and re-clamped the bag.
SB #2 is coming along nicely but was cased about 9 days after SB#1 so it has some catching up to do. I will say that I am seeing surface growth appear faster with the MG Potting Mix casing so far.
