Theres already a hierarchy built in with the TC tag and a feedback mechanism in ratings. The marketplace of ideas is open to anyone bruh as it should be.

The burden is on the newcomers. Everyone learned somehow and it's only getting easier to do so. That said it feels like the next generation, despite growing up with internet, has absolutely no research skills. Digging up posts that agree with their misconceptions and digging up super old info seems the standard. Finding some noobs post in a 6 year old thread and citing that but cant find a monotub tek to save their life despite the advanced search and the sticky posts. I think they teach 4th graders during library day how to search, use booleans, determine good sources, evaluate credentials, etc... Seems a lost art on people now though.

Enough people come here and their first post is a great success they got from following established and reliable methods. It's entirely possible and only getting easier. I don't think we need a crusade against new users posting info that may or may not be perfect. If you can't separate the good from the bad that's just something else you'll need to develop as a prerequisite for growing mushrooms and adult life in general.

It's a good sentiment, like socialism or communism, but actually implementing it would be a mistake and ruin the country (forum). Also, being a noob myself I wouldnt dream of coming in here and suggesting the entire forum operate in an entirely different way. Makes you look like a tool especially since you can just wait for multiple peoples input and go from there.

Thats my 2 cents

You really like to say words but don't really think about what they mean, eh big guy?

Thin skinned would mean I'm offended by their posts, which I was not. I was (I feel it worth mentioning again) thinking it important to keep the integrity of the information in here. I'm not even offended by your crappy reply to my post... because I'm pretty thick skinned.

See... had you pointed out how futile my request was, I would have laughed at myself and agreed with you. I can see what you mean but you have been a total dick about how you say it so I thought I'd tell you to go to hell.

I can see you have a lot of experience with cultivating and would listen very closely to what you say in that regard but otherwise, I kind of think you're a penis.

Have a great day!

Jerk.

That reply doesn't seem to thick skinned about 420's post you could have just ignored.

Meh... I know... I know...

He was just being such a dick. I kind of enjoyed the idea of him fuming over his keyboard, lol.

But you're right...

I'll let him have the last word if he deems it important to try to make me feel small and insignificant again.

Cheers!

I know a lot has been said in this, but I'll chime in anyways.

I'm going to keep making my newb (noob? n00b?!) comments and hoping that people look to my avatar and see how long I've been here.

Why? The TC's around here have been here FOR A LONG TIME and I'm sure they're tired of answering questions about surface conditions, or how a brf cake looks, or "is this contam?!".

They've pulled their weight, they've put in their time. Let them answer weird questions about splicing mycelium with snake venom and shit.

Also, if you really want to see bad answers with no idea how to figure out who's right just head over to Reddit. After leaving Reddit for here it's been pretty easy to see that even that crap advice you're talking about is likely better than the shittier shit on Reddit.

That's the humility I'm talking about. You call yourself a noob but you have successful grows. You are not who I was talking to! Your advice comes from experience from the sound of it.

Also all good feedback.

I can see that my request rubbed a few people the wrong way but I legit learned a lot from posting it about how people work around separating the good advice from the bad. It was never my intention to stop the sharing of ideas but just rather suggest that people like myself in the middle of their first grow should simply state their experience (or lack of it) before saying something is or is not a good tek or not. Whatever my intentions, it has been pointed out that I should have saved my breath.

Live and learn...

It's a general principle of life. Even the bible says you can tell a fool from his abundance of words (not a direct quote). People should absolutely say "i know" when they know and "i think" when they think. But people "should" do many things.
I agree with you, it would be nice but I would not condone an enforced rule and outside that (or an entire shift of human consciousness) their is no way noobs will quit running their mouths. Bodhi put it well, i think. Learning to find the gems is really the art of the deal here.

I just wanted to head in here one last time and let everyone know that I understand why my post was perceived as shitty to so many.

I believe the sentiment was nice but it didn't read the way I intended it and was futile in any event.

I didn't mind the redirection from the experienced members who provided the constructive feedback and even though I thought 420 was being a dick about it, I even understand where he was coming from.

The idea behind the post was to encourage newbs to be careful with offering advice.

So... I hope I didn't make too big of an ass of myself. The road to hell was paved with good intentions as they say and when it comes to this forum, I believe it will serve me well to have people on my side rather than thinking I'm a big ego! :-)

Thank you for the feedback all. I'll figure it all out slowly but surely. ;-)

I think you are good brah. but just so you know, the noobs won't listen. the best we can do is play our part to not pretend to know something when we only think it and learn to not believe everything you read around here. After a while you just get used to who's who and what makes sense. But, whatever you do, Don't trust any Tribe members. they are a bunch of asses for sure

:laugh2: Nice Verum.

It's really not so tough op. Check their grows, post count, ratings, join date, stuff like that. You can usually suss out who's got some good exp under their belt and who doesn't.

I try hard to only answer questions I am confident I know the answers to. If I am unsure, but think I know the answer, I make sure to say so.
If I am shown to be mistaken, I own it.
I think that's the way to be a good poster, to be helpful

the tribe is a private "club" within this online community. I was joking. They are all great folks and friends of mine. I'm actually part of the tribe and didn't realize that my sig didn't have the tag any more until after i made that post.
