Bad ass. I like your use of aged/distressed paper.

That watercolor one is too cool

Working on a sculpture of this mushroom dude/old man. Did some rough sketches and then this photoshop tweaked image. This will give me a guide on rough proportions and textures. I used the dodge and burn tool to highlight some areas I want to recede and others to come forward. I could have spent more time on the drawing but I'd rather spend the time with the clay because not everything here will translate to 3d form well. The beard will be a challenge to make textural but not take away from everything else with too much detail.

Here is a bit of an update: this is pretty far along, with all the major shapes more-or-less in place. Just some refining and tweaking at this point (unless I get some strong urge to change something.)

This took a long time, it went through many ugly stages. I am not primarily a sculptor and it differs from drawing in that you have all angles to worry about. I found I would work on the sculpture straight on and feel it was looking good. I would then look at it from the side or from the top and it would be completely out of whack.

Found it helpful to turn it every-which way constantly and look at it upside down, from across the room and in the mirror.

I would like to turn this one into some kind of metal, I am thinking a garden ornament or a something to hang on a door.

This new sculpture of yours looks fantastic! I like the level of detail. It looks much like an ancient Roman or Greek sculpture.

ok so getting into wrapping this up soon hopefully. I changed the shroom configuration around to balance it out a bit more. There are Ganoderma applanatum (artist conk), C. formosus (pacific golden chanterelle) Lycoperdon perlatum (common puffball) and Morchella elata (black morel)

WIP. Biggest painting I have ever started (havn't finished it yet) still more work to do, but careful not to over detail.

Learned a lot from working this big....mainly use big brushes! started out with inch wide and quickly went to the at least 2" across.

Thank you

Here is the final of the old man of the woods sculpture. I ended up re-doing a big portion of the face to add more volume to the skin. The changes only took about a day to implement but I think it was a big improvement. The previous work took a few weeks to achieve. Anyways here it is.

A bit of a delay completing this sculpture (almost a year!). I decided to go ahead and cast this in bronze at a foundry. It was such a cool process seeing it start to finish.

I couldn't take any photos at the foundry because of Covid but it was really rewarding to see the process of creating a sculpture using the lost-wax method. The process itself was very time consuming and expensive (the metal itself is pricey as it is mainly copper)

I largely made this for myself as something to hang on my door but I had 5 other castings made as well (with the limit being 10 before the mould is retired) So far I have had many people interested in a copy but the price point was out of their reach. That being said the cost of the sculpture I kept was a couple hundred more than the cost I am currently selling them for. This is because of the material costs and mould making supplies. As for a monetary compensation for my time? it aint happening lol

Anyways I hope you enjoy and find it interesting. Send me a pm if interested and I can send you a link to my website or send more pictures. Thanks!
