Take the time
    #25793591 -

There is all the time in the world.

So I'm gonna take my time.

You too.

... not an all encompassing description of time, just a particular mode that can be chosen when a particular change of mode is needed. You can't just flip a switch any time you need to. Or can you?

I'm gonna take my time.

I'm not sure I take your meaning, or that you take mine. Or perhaps you understand me and I not you.

Mine relates to anxiety and being in a hurry.

There's similarities: Need time/Take time; Need money/Take money; Invest money to make more money...etc. Social Security for example requires you to file for 10 years before you can get a return. Taking the time without having invested in the security of living in the manner you have grown accustomed to may well prove to be a higher index on the anxiety scale.

Perhaps if one were a Buddhist living in an agrarian society one could get by in the countryside with an alms bowl.

Understood. Relating to anxiety, taking time could result in getting more done. By taking time I don't mean doing nothing, but rather a mental attitude of not rushing ones self but going at a pace one is comfortable with. It is the ceasing of a process in which thoughts about one's anxiety create more anxiety. Instead of being in a hurry to rid ones self of the source of anxiety, accepting how one feels at the moment and not making assumptions about the next moment or tomorrow or next week is useful.

Wanting a thing to happen before it's time.

Or maybe to be contrary, wanting a thing to be done that may or may not happen. Everything that will get done, will get done. If something may not or does not get done one should be okay with that.

Not getting the job after the interview for instance.

I know what you mean. I started looking at things that were causing stress and anxiety like: There's a place in Time where what I'm worrying about is already in the past. Since I'm not stressing about it Then all I need to do is get to that point in Time. It's not really fatalistic as Now I still don't know what will have happened Then. But I do know that what I worried about now - like a job interview - is over, finished, and set in the past.

From "Being Time"

The Zen master (Yueh-shan) says: "Standing on the peak of a high mountain is uji. Diving to the bottom of the deep ocean is uji. The one with three heads and eight arms is uji. He who stands one jo and six or eight s haku is uji. The staff and hossu are uji. The pillar and lamp are uji. You and your neighbor are uji. The great earth and vast sky are uji." This uji means that time is existence and that all existence is time.

The golden body of one jo six shaku is time. Because it is time, there are the ornaments and lights of time. So we must study the 12 hours confronting us. It is time that draws out the body with three heads and eight arms. Because it is time, it interpenetrates with the present 12 hours. Though we have not yet measured the span of 12 hours, we call it 12 hours. Because time's transit leaves traces, man does not doubt it. Though he does not doubt, he does not understand. Because the ordinary man does not think from the deep ground, he of course doubts all things that he does not fully understand. For this reason, his future doubts never harmonize with his present doubts. And even doubt is nothing but a part of time.

There is no world without this doubting self, for this self is the world itself. We must look on everything in this world as time. Each thing stands in unimpeded relation just as each moment stands unimpeded. Therefore, (from the standpoint of time) the desire for enlightenment arises spontaneously; (from the standpoint of mind) time arises with the same mind. This applies also to training and enlightenment. Thus we see by entering within: the self is time itself.

Time dilation, in physics is the concept about changes in the passage of time

when time is defined by the dictionary,

as an event,

the individual human being the event,

then the changes occur to us

since we are time.

if we can accept that the changes to our timeline are perfect,

we allow  the space that we occupy to be how it's meant to be...perfect.

each dimension is created by you

We frequently find the present moment uncomfortable and often create stress by wanting time to "pass" as we yearn for some future moment, when we will be content and satisfied. We wait for the day to end. We wait for the week to end. We wait for vacation. We wait in line at the grocery store. We wait in traffic.

not at all:
what seems to persist in mind has associative regeneration, it is actually not persisting but restarting  and resonating - perception/memory reactivates the mental object(s).
eventually the afterglow dissolves the mental form.
all things arise and fade, but the miracle of memory lets them live again, if only for a few moments.

this is not analogous to genetics, or evolution.

I tend to believe mind generates embers and our focus determines if the messages become wildfires.

The concept of positive feedback may apply here. Our focus can amplify the original impression.

I'm fascinated by the storytelling nature of mind. I don't recall events, but my narrative about what happened.

Dad is that you?

I do agree that if you have dreams, better to try than let the time pass by. Then again, sometimes people need to loose themselves and wander to find something better.

The context of the OP was specific... sorry if I wasn't more clear but I did try to clear it up in subsequent posts. I think most everyone feels like they're in over their head sometimes. I also think anxiety is a form of energy that can be redirected into something more productive... but when there's no control to be found, better to take the time to slow down and be patient with one's self until that switch occurs.
