hes building his Gentoo with systemd and pulseaudio, I dont know what dbus is so im unsure why he dosnt like that https://gentoo.org/support/use-flags/

So is there something bad about pulseaudio? Is this a joke about not being hardcore enough somehow?

I never really messed with Linux installations where you do a bunch of complex setup to install. My current computer is running Lubuntu.

I just run Mint, I dont want to learn to tweak every little thing aswell, but systemd and pulseaudio are both written by the same guy Lennart Poettering, and people have major issues with this guy, both systemd and pulseaudio were widely adopted into just about every distro upon creation, pulseaudio in the early days was notorious for breaking the systems sound, so lots of people hated it, and systemd breaks the Unix Philosophy of "doing one thing and doing it well", as well as being a huge attack surface running as PID 1
