I have prepared 24 wide month BRF/VERM cakes as many of us have done before and I still have not resived my spores and there not gonna be here for a couple of weeks so my question is how long if they dont get contaminated will thet last? do they dry out after a while?

Maybe, The first time i ever tried to grow shrooms i let my jars sit for a little more than a week before injecting them and not one got contaminated. I guess it just depends on how well you sterilized the jars?

They should be good for a while, if you keep the tops covered i doubt a lot of waper will escape. If you have to wait more than 2 weeks i would just redo everything to be safe.

Ok, thanks Guys, I sure hope they get here quick but its kinda lookin like its gonna be two weeks. Is there anything I can do to prevent them from drying out?
P.S. Has anyone ever knocked up 24 half pints with 1 Really dark syringe, Is it possible, I really dont care about germination time, as long as it gets the job done. Thanks

You can try to store the jars in an air tight container? It might help a little but im not sure, either way you dont have anything to loose. One syringe might be able to do 24 jars but thats pushing it, i like to put 1-1.5cc per jar.

This happened to me before, and the jars ended up doing nothing - no contaminations, and no growth. I assume the lack of contaminations was because of my cleanly procedures, but I think that you should probably go ahead and toss the mixtures you've made and start over when the syringes get to your pad.

If you did everything correctly, I believe they should be fine. In fact, if they don't show contams after a number of weeks, it is because you did it right. I am a newbie though and I am not speaking from experience. I would think that if the jars sit for a few weeks and are still clean that they are actually preferable to freshly made substrate.

I am just saying that aged jars would be contaminated if he screwed up in the process. They shouldn't lose any moisture because they are kept sealed. Those jars are in a state of suspended animation. As long as you keep them sealed they will patiently await your attention. Not that I know what I am talking about.

How important is the spore syringe to you? That should answer everything. If you really want to suceed in growing then toss everything out and redo it, if not leave the jars how they are and take the risk of wasting a syringe.
