Kits and kits and more good kits
    #25778492 -

Though I am an amateur at mushroom cultivation,  there are parallels to this hobby and other agricultural hobbies  with which I am familiar. I find it interesting that my colleagues in the beekeeping business mostly deride prepackaged kits and other conveniences in pursuit of their chosen hobby. I have been involved in gardening and beekeeping groups for a number of years and I’m always amused at the intense opposition in general to convenience kits and all in one packages.

I am very interested to know the opinions of those from this forum why, if it is the case, you prefer to discourage kits. Or, are you familiar with quality kits that will meet the needs of a newbie?

there's no quality mushroom kits. the people who sell them include really shit directions with info that's blatantly wrong. the cost is outrageous to the point at which you could actually buy the equipment to do your own sterilization and end up spending the same. the results usually suck, sometimes they come pre-contaminated. shipping defeats the purpose of freshly sterilized(for this hobby specifically that's important)

so no there's no quality kits for mushrooms out there. at least I've never seen one yet.

kits are like going to a muscle car forum and saying you put zero work into a show car. no one cares and no one wants to hear it for the most part. people take pride in their work. kits are the opposite of pride and work. they're a cop out from even trying to learn the ropes. all of us know how easy this shit is so when people say the info is overwhelming and they don't know where to start we all know it's bullshit. people come here their first post is a grow from spores to agar to grain to full fledged tubs. It's not over anyone's head except the people who don't want to try. The information is literally laid out at your fingertips and very well organized. plus the community support is through the roof in helpfulness so even if you get stuck if you at least tried you'll get from point A to B in no time.
