i think this might go in advanced cultivation, but were talking about outside pasture mushrooms... anyway how would you spawn active shrooms to a pasture that only has inactive mushrooms?

Introduce colonized spawn to the area. But really there are no guarantees in the wild. It may fruit, it may not. It may survive into the next year, it may not. My out door beds at home didn't return this year or they haven't fruited this year yet.

I'd suggest spawning beds in and around the area. The fruits from these beds will disperse spores into the environment. If the pastures in your area are in the right climate you may get some future spore germination. This may take a few seasons if it even works. I'd just concentrate on growing cube beds, if the surrounding environment is welcoming then you have something else to be happy about besides the fruits you have grown.

I used to think that shrooms only grew when a tiny spore floated down and landed on a moist cow pie and started growing.
Now I know that shrooms also grow when cows eat vegetation that spores have fallen on, which passes through their gut, and everything is pooped out in a pre-innoculated substrate cake (so to speak).
Here's what I have done many times, to "boost" the productivity of a pasture: After a successful hunt, I always wash the harvested shrooms under running water, collecting the runoff in a LARGE bowl. I make sure to flush the gills with water. The runoff turns purple from millions of spores. This is poured into a couple plastic bottles with snap-top caps (sports drink bottles or old ketchup bottles work great). The bottles are placed in the refrigerator until the next hunt. Take the bottles with you and give cow pies a squirt of spore water. If you see a feeder in the pasture, squirt the hay that the cows will eat.
Basically, don't let free spores go to waste!

IF you wash your shrooms in water than you lose some of the high. Psilocybine is water soluable, psilocine is not.

First off, the majority of cubensis shrooms pop up through the shit.
You twist the stems off of the shit and there should be a mimimum of shit. Them you let the shroom dry and then rub off the dried shit.
I have collected hundreds of pounds of cubes over the years and never had a problem with shit. IOn fact in Hawaii where people pick COpelandia shrooms from manure. People just put their hands in a bag, cgrab a handful and eat them. Most people it does not bother sand shit is pretty clean.
Just lay the shrooms on a newspaper to dry. Then when they are dried rubb the shit off. Of using your fingers, rub lightly on the bottom of the stem facing down to the bottom, Thin layers of mycelia will rub off in layers. Of course the more you runb when handling the more potency they will lose.
So I basically leave them on the paper with as little shit as possble, qhich occurs inproper picking of the shroom form the manure heap.
The first four images are of Cubeisis drying. I let them dry then remove the manure after they are dried, thus causing nomore damage to the flesh of the shroom and no oxidation of psilocine occuring that way, only a little.
Then I runb it off.
The fourth image is of Copelandia shrooms which are very much damaged form human handling during picking.
Most people do not pick the shrooms properly and most cause severe tissue damage when handling Copes.
They should be held firmly but not causing any pressure to the outter skin of the bottoms of the stems when lifting them form ht the ground.
Then they should all be laid the same direction int he box container used to pick them. And then carried like a cup of coffee as you continue to pick.
The least flesh damage the more potent they will stay.
Try to caus as little as bluing as possinle.
I let them dry. Once dried you can rub the dried manure form the bottom of the stem and in that way your shroom retains alot of the chemical and the shrooms look healthy and dried. mj
HEre you can see I rubbed to hard and the bluing is occuring. That is the lost and oxidation of psilocine from improper hjuman handling.
Some shrooms laid out to dry inthe sun to keep the worms from hatching. (Fry the fucking worms).
More laid to dry without removing light traces of manure.
ANd some Copelandia with minor shit attached to the base of stem. NMost can be removed wqhen picking by flicking lightly the base fo the stem between to fingers and flicking it off with minimum damge to the stem. I picked these carefully about one hour before placing them on the paper to arrange them later in single file to dry.
Notice hardly any oxidation but I can then rub the remaining manure off afdter they have dried. By then it is inert powder.
Nowq one more note. Thousands of individuals pick and eat fresh cubensis, some even while they are picking saying they can find more when they are high. The manure will not hurt you. EWven the indoor grown shrooms are grown with mostly horse manure and straw. No one gets sick form it. IT is cool to be clean, but you are not really going to lose a lot by washing but remember, psilocybine is water soluable.

I follow.
personally I've never had the pleasure of eating personally picked field shrooms as i don't live in a happy place.
i was speaking more from the experience of eating shrooms picked off of established outdoor beds. granted coir/verm is harmless but my friends wouldn't appreciate that type of crap on their fruits and i'm a bit OCD about it myself. i find that most of it can be scraped off but i prefer a quick wash to remove debris (rain tends to splash all kinds of stuff all over them) and wash out bugs, and remove slug tracks.
i find that if i let them dry with debris on them the mushroom shrinks and holds debris tightly in the folds, so tightly that i can't pick it out with my fingernails (esp. verm). i concur that some actives are prolly lost in the wash but it certainly wasn't noticable upon ingestion!!!

I found though that when you wash them under tap water and then attempt to dry them they get mycelium growing all over them and it makes them look well, white.I dont think it effects potency too much cause the ones I ate knocked my ass off,but it does make them look different- oh btw the ones I am speaking of were dried useing the paper towel method.lol-lay'em an a paper towel till they dry!

I don?t think much psilocybin resides on the surface of the mushrooms...so giving them a short wash shouldn't really affect anything in terms of potency.
