Lol I may be a fool with the other one, but I love the opuntia eve's needle as a graft stock, I personally like the Montrose version, but if yours is the standard pad heres a great grafting method to opuntia pads

Or at the base of a new pad like the second set of pics on this linkwww.cactus-art.biz/technics/Grafting_on_opuntia_compressa_step_by_step.htm
I prefer this on standard pads, but whatever your gut tells yah:)

That's an encouraging video. I am nervous to start hacking the seedlings up, but watching that made me feel better. Thanks for sharing that. I saw one of those at Home Depot I almost bought. I wasn't sure how easy it was to graft on to one of those so I left it there and just bought the Echinopsis.

Here is just a quick update. I started more seeds a little over 2 weeks ago and a good majority of them have come up so far. The sand makes it hard to pick them out at first but, it helps keep the algae away so I use it.

These are the new ones.

These are the first batch, not all of them but some of them.

This cluster is kind of cool, I know it's just how the seeds landed but I like it.

These are new, I threw some seeds in with the older ones since there was plenty of room.

they're doing good, congrats. I generally advise against sowing in organics for desert dwellers, but one can use a sand layer on the surface to keep the molds at bay, or at least slow them.
