so far there is NOTHING, i don't see any white specs and i don't see mold either... for that matter. what should i do? am i too impatient?

if your tempertures arent right it will take longer.keep them as close to 86 degrees as you can without getting hotter than that.some of mine didnt show signs for 9 days because my temp was to low.then i set up my tub in tub,and brought the temperture up to 86 and 7 days later they were done!

Its all in the facts. Im just finishing my first grow with b+ and even at perfect inucuabtion temps several of my jars took till the 10 day for signs of germination but they all did germinate.
Patience my friend.

You use a submersable aquarium heater. You can find info on this here..... http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/22996 Or here.... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...=&fpart=all
The second one is a link to a grow log I have going. I have some picks of my setup there. Hope this helped!

frock/royale, thank you kind sirs... houston, we have myc! on one of my malabar, mazapatec, and unknown jars i have myc. the unknown has the most, and the malabar is coming in 2nd. the other 3 have yet to show signs. i can't wait to find out what the "unknown" strains are... it'll be a surprise, and you know who i'll be asking ;-) thanks for holding my hand and giving me advice. p.s. i put a heating pad under them for incubation... i don't know what temp they're at... i don't have thermostat/humidity gauge yet... any recomendations on a certain model/brand of thermostat/humidity gauge thingy?

i innoculated 12 jars (6 B+ , 6 Treasure Coast) on the 4th also. about half of the jars, both B+ and treasure coast are almost full colonized. yet the others bearly have any on them. but patience is a virtue..

what does temperatures of 86+ do to growth, just slow it, or can it kill the myc? (i don't mean like 200 degrees... but under 100)
also, can too much water slow growth? the reason i ask is, i mixed up enough substrate for 6 jars, but i was only able to fill 5, so i had to make one jar separately. anyway, the first batch of substrate for the first 5 jars i know had WAY too much water, and the substrate for the last jar was mixed just right, since i figured out how much water it really takes.
long story short, that one malabar jar is light years ahead of the other 5, so i believe that is the one i made separately. is the possible excess of water in the other 5 hindering progress?
thanks in advance. this is so exciting!

for a great incubator tek, go to http://www.theomc.com/index.cfm?fuseAction=teks.mmIncubator
instead of using the grommets, as described in the tutorial, i just drilled my hole to the perfect size, and used silicone sealand inside the hole, and on the inside and outside. I could see having the grommets leak. Also, i couldnt find a grommet with the correct inner diameter to match my fish heater.
Im guessing that the malabars and mazapatecs take a little longer to germinate and colonize, but that's strictly my speculation.
Temps over 86F will only slow growth a bit. 86 is said to be optimal. mycelium won't die until somewhere around 103F.
You should fill us in on how you prepared your substrate jars. If you didnt let the jars cool enough, before innoculating them, then you could've killed the spores.

well, they've germinated a little bit, but but my myc growth has seemed to come to a halt. they've all just stopped. they were all growing, and now they're at the same place they've been for the last 3 days.
i was just using a heating pad/blanket to warm my jars, one day i heated them too much and the jars were hot, could i have killed the myc?
my myc is now kind of gray looking instead of just white...

well... my leading malabar jar has the majority of its mycelia turned green and one of my unknown's has a little black spot underneath the mycelia... i believe i killed the myc with too high of temps because all growth on all jars stopped at the same time... AND i've got known contams in two jars... back to square one i suppose, i'm glad though. now i have one batch of jars under my belt and i am that much more knowledgeable on how to do it RIGHT... (thanks cap'n)

wow. bad luck there, you should probably work on the sterility of your techniques.
If you want to avoid all that waiting for germination you should look into karo teks. I'll never go back to multispore innoculation ever again.

ok, i've read a few things about contams and shrooms, but what i really want to know is, what exactly about the contam will make the shrooms bad?
if they are growing side by side, will the shroom get some of the contam into it's stem/cap?
what about if the contam and shroom are on opposite sides of the substrate and aren't touching?
