That is definitely happening on the next run.  Seems like too much moisture is lost in the first week by flipping the lid.  Also going to add a coir layer on top of the grains.  But what about dealing with this tub?

I got almost 3oz of B+ out of a previously dry rubbery substrate. I added like a fucking quart of water and it sucked it all up. Now it's pinning like mad and crapping out fat dongers. It's my first monotub.
Shit, i even cut the sub in half to make it easier to get at the side/bottom pins but it jst tore so i said fuck it...everything is just fine now. Trial & error mang.

Little update.



I have the lid kind of jared open, but not upside down, to try and slow down evaporation.  Seems to hold the surface moisture a little longer.  Side pins are going nuts, but have a decent set on top, so not complaining.

Oh koolsville. Yeah my first flush was all two inchers. It was odd. This flush seems to be crapping out fatter shrooms but they aint much bigger.

If what you're talking about is that pic you posted, I'd say its because your sub is a little shallow.  That is just a guess.  I think the problem is there isn't enough water to support all of those shrooms.  Looks like you had a pretty good set going.

side pins and small top pins are usually a sign of too much water actually.

Once you mat down the surface water pools at the bottom hence side pin city. People think rubber matted surface wont pin for some Reason tho like pins cant penetrate it. Pins form right from it they don't push thru it lol.

When i get a matted dried out surface pins are coming from the side or bottom. Not the top. Thats strange your experience is the exact opposite.:confused:

Theyll come from anywhere but they can still come from the top. Ive seen some really matted shit push pins

Yea, if u fix the conditions they'll come from the top. It's because there's no humidity at the surface level.

Here are a couple updates from this morning.  Coming along.

Pretty sure going to end up with some little guys.  Some of the caps are separating out.  Gonna attribute that to too much water in the sub.

Lid is flipped and kept that way all the time.  I'm guessing thats fine for FAE?
