What are your favorite cube varieties and why?
    #25759200 -

I’ve grown B+ and am trying to grow GT (with some luck so far) and Hawaiian (not much luck) but I just ordered Cambodian, Colorado and Z-Strain. I’m new at this and have only used syringes and BRF cakes birthed using Chronic Tek. Wondering if I am choosing the right varieties for this method. Need to be discreet so no mono tubs for me.

Maybe edit your post to take the vendor name out, you’ll get a hand slap 😝

I am still pretty new but found GT’s, blue meanie cubes and Ecuador’s to grow through all my mess ups and inexperience.  I’ve had a bit of trouble with AA+ and am just now working on RWs which are going great and PE6/PEU which are still on agar.

GT, as I’ve learned, is popular for a reason, easy to grow, good yield and good after harvest too 😉. Great place to start before you expand.

Be patient, be willing to look at your own possible mistakes and be open to advice, even if it seems harsh sometimes, and you’ll do great.

They're varieties, not strains. They all grow the same. Big differences in outcome are due to mistakes and coincidence.

Thank you for your suggestions. Corrections noted and made.

As I said, I’m very new and still learning. The feedback and tips are greatly appreciated.

The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself - a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds. Describing both material and non-material realities, the mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.

In psychology, it is a symbol in a dream, representing the dreamer's search for completeness and self-unity.

AA+ is my fave so far. Nice meaty fruits and they are pretty potenent/magical. They’re white too so it makes them even more cool.

APE,PE,B+ allgood:)  even though a cube is a cube, wouldn't a specimen from one part of the world not have a slightly different gene-pool from a specimen found in another, and their spores not give rise to subsequent generations that also have might the same slight variations, which compounded by time  could give rise to varieties that produced spores which had a tendency to produce a certain set of traits and thus be different/desirable?

Not including things like PE, Luecistics, redspores;

Varieties at most have tendencies. Like: My cambo tends to grow tall & thin, My PE6 tends to grow thick, fat stems. But, these aren't written in stone. You can still get stubbies from cambo, and lanky PE6 if you're working from MS.

These tendencies aren't even consistent across the whole variety. Cap's PE6 tends to grow more giants than mine does. There's a degree of random chance with the genetics you get.

But, they all still grow the same, they're all cubes. None is easier or harder than another.

African Transki is my favorite. Because it looks cool and has a "spiritual" aspect to it.

I love Cambo. When almost all else ended in disaster the Cambo was always there to save the day. IME the MS crapshoot dealt me good cards reliably.

werd. thats pretty consistent with what I had thought.  however couldn't these tendencies be considered desirable if they were more common in one variety than another.  so say for example someone trying to grow monster fruits might be more inclined to trade for a PE6 print from caps than from you?

I hope this isnt getting too off topic.  but I have noticed certain tendencies throughout one variety or another to show up over time.

Right now it's RustyWhyte... only thing is the yield; I'm looking for a heavier producing culture, but still getting right at 25 dry grams per mycoquart... PE6 is a great all around variety IME: potency and yield are up there... I think RW is a little more visual, but I wouldn't say it's much stronger... pe6 is both visual and psychological, as is RW,  just more visual and less psychological ... this is all subjective experience based on the genetics I've been working with... genetics will vary wildly with MS cultures, even in well stablized varieties...

What you're saying kinda makes sense Ted when you're talking about getting genetics from someone's grow that you liked, and seeing what you can do with it.

But this question in general seems to largely be asked by new people looking for "the best" or "the easiest" variety. I think it's a folly way to go about it when you're selecting a name from a vendor's list. You really have no idea what you will get in that case. Just pick a few that sound interesting, practice, and trade to see what you end up liking most out of you're collection.

As you can see; people's favorites vary from things that they think look cool, to varieties that they feel is consistent in yield or potency for them. It's not very consistent from one person to the next.

I know that "a cube is a fucking cube" but my favorite one is definitely GT. Easy to work with, somewhat forgiving and a lot of genetic opportunities to choose from if you start with an MS grow.

lol, I think that looking cool ranks high on everyone's list.  good thing all mushrooms look pretty cool!

B+ I like because I feel it gives way to extremely tall fruits consistantly, which also looks cool;)
