Hello I found these 2 different fungi here in California right after a heavy rainfall. Both were found in the same area.

(The two bigger bags)

Area found: Wood chips, wet/slight sunlight

Spore Print: Purple

From online research, where they were located, and when, I believe I have Golden Teachrs (two bigger bags/ the darker ones were dried differently)

Spore Print: Dark Purple (Smaller bag)

And Mexicanas/or Baeocystis are in the smaller bag

I'll be corrected but I thought most cubes were tropical to sub-tropical. There are temperate psilocybe species but GT is a cube. Did you get any pictures of them before you picked them? Note any bruising when you picked them?

This is a better place to ask. I can't confirm if you found what you think you did. They'll probably want a pick of the gills and ask about bruising in addition to the info you gave.

GT=Cubensis : Most cube Varieties are named for the region they're found in, and there's a few that've been domestically bred for a while that're given Variety Names(like gt). But ultimately if you find one, it's a cube.

As for tropical or sub tropical, people seem to find Cubes in cow patties all over the place as long as conditions are permiting. It wouldn't be typical to find a cube in wood chips afaik.

Thank you for your help @LtLurker and @MadValley , and unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the GT’s before but the lighter bag looked like this.

The darker bag was more brown and wet. There was not much bruising.

Just curious about the smaller bag as well.

Thank you again!!

Welcome to the Shroomery.

Did you check the other side of the bag for a name written in marker?

Sorry couldn't resist.

As mentioned there is a forum specifically for identification. I can almost guarantee no one will be willing to give a positive ID of dried mushrooms, shown in a baggie no less.

Spore Print color is good but pics of the spore print, the gills (as mentioned), the mushroom before they are dried, and the habitat are almost always required for a positive ID.

You may have gotten lucky but rule of thumb is don't eat anything without a positive ID.
