Scaring cakes

I was wondering if its a bad idea to take a sterilized fork/spoon or any other object and scar your cakes after the first flush then dunk them to promote new mycelium growth. Read this somewhere once but I haven't heard of anyone else doing it.

A dunk and roll works better and does the same whing... instead of scratching the surface, you grow more surface.

if your growing cubensis scratching will not help at all. but if your doing casings and you have uneven growth it can be good to scratch the mycelium from the overgrown area over the other and put some casing on the over grown part.
