I asked this question about my first shiitake plates. I was told it was to do with light exposure?

I had this several times with azurescens and  once the reason for this was a test with agar made from dried leaves.

Also I had one where everything was normal and short before the plate was completely colonized it went into a darker brown.

I have this plate still laying around. Gonna take a picture when I am at home.

Mine looks very different, but you can test them, just boil water then close of boiling, put shreded cardboard into the water for half an hour, then get out wait a bit to cool and drip down. Place some vedges on them in a big petri dish or a small container. If they start to grow rhizomorphs you will probably good

Peace

 for the scientific approach, l0wbob.

@Nichrome

Maybe it's not ovoids at all... But if the myc bruises blue, it is a Psilocybe.

The colors are weird. They might come from an agar formulation (I would bet on that) or an infection.

The rings are from temperature changes (or light, can't remember). Many species form them.

Grow-up style? Dialed or totally an experiment?

Does "totally an dialed experiment" count?

I knew it should work so i gave it a try as kind of an experiment

Fair enough, next test (if you want), make 120g (dry) spawn, and use a 10+ liter tub (like this set of 3). Spawn at the bottom and WL-Tek on top.

I have not done it in a while, so it's likely some modifications to the above and recipe may be needed.

If done correctly, you will end up with a solid block of Cubensis, and solid + rich fruits.
On the left I split a stem, which was solid. Bruising was visibly rich.

Ok woodlovers I need some help. Is now a good time to start growing out my ps. cyans? Or should I wait a little
longer?

It's been awhile since a did an outdoor bed...and I've never done these before.

What do you mean by "growing out"? If you mean spawning outdoors, I wouldn't do that until frosts reliably stop.

I've got my azures on agar and am three transfers in. Starting in Jan gives enough time to expand sufficiently while allowing a buffer time to deal with any issues.

I Will be prepping grain master for hardwood pellets and oak chips in the next week or so.

I'm aiming for about 25lbs of spawn for the spring.

I'm no expert but I've started mine. Spawn em once inside, then spawn the result a second time outside once spring comes around

That's the info I was looking for. I can start now and have it in the ground in March. Just needed a little
confirmation. Not doing a massive bed, so I should have time. Hope ps. cyans is like azures. I expanded it on
cherry chips years ago and it moved fast.

Pretty sure I recall Ferather stating that they can both be treated the same as king oyster.
