Benefits of alternatives to smoking marijuana
    #25745471 -

So I haven't smoked or used weed in almost two weeks.

Its been pretty nice having a level head all day everyday.

Been microdosing mushrooms once or twice.

Curious though about using alternative methods of cannabis consumption as opposed to smoking.

Mainly for medicinal benefits.

Anyone out there use weed here and there in the form of tea or edibles, and completely refrained from smoking?

Saw a simple recipe for grinding weed, boiling water with some coconut oil, and simmering, then drinking.

I honestly believe that marijuana has many medicinal benefits and I don't want to smoke due to its impact on my breathing and asthma related issues. Trying to overcome my asthma completely and not need my inhaler ever.

Currently I can run, but much less and with more difficulty in wheezing than if I use my inhaler before hand.

Anyway...

Who's tried weed purely via alternatives to somoking, have you ever tried the tea method, and what was your experience refraining from smoking and using weed only via alternative routes of administration?

Thanks and sorry for the ramble long post

I gave up smoking weed about 18 months ago. First i bought a nice piece of glass imported from the US, which had a carbon filter attached....lovely....the taste difference was enough for me to commit....but after about 5 months it fucked my lungs. not massively, but about the same as if i smoked....

Then i invested in a dry herb vape (ariser solo 2) and haven't looked  back. the taste is amazing, the buzz is really clean and you use less (some times  )

...dry herb vaping is the only way I enjoy weed now. Recently tried my glass bong, and was disappointed with the flavour compare...over christmas I had a few spliffs and began hating myself...although it was a nice buzz....

I would not even vape if i was attempting to deal with my breathing and asthma by not smoking weed as he is. tea... sounds tryable

I'm an asthmatic former smoker that uses weed all day everyday as an adjunct therapy to my anti epileptic drugs, since switching to a dry herb vaporizer my asthma has been controlled to the point of not needing an inhaler for months at a time. I have an Arizer Solo 2, one called a focus vape and an Arizer Extreme Q.

Vaping feels cleaner and is easier on the lungs and the flavour you can get with the right temperatures is amazing. You can allow each strain to fully show it's unique effects because you're also not damaging the cannabinoids or terpenes.

Vaporizers are also really efficient, because you are preserving more cannabinoids you get more milage out of your weed without the carcinogens of smoke. After vaping you can save the vaped weed to either eat or otherwise use, I make a muscle pain ointment with mine.

1 ounce of vaped weed
1 cup of coconut oil
3-5 chili peppers I use Carolina reapers
1/2 ounce eucalyptus leaves
Block of beeswax

In a double boiler infuse coconut oil with the cannabis, peppers and eucalyptus for several hours stirring occasionally. Strain coconut oil through cheese cloth and allow to cool. As the oil is cooling begin grating a small amount of beeswax, this is to harden the ointment. When the oil is room temperature return it to the double boiler and warm it back up, add beeswax little by little checking the consistency by cooling a bit on a spoon between additions. The final consistency should be that of a thick but spreadable cream or ointment.

The coconut oil allows for the topical use of cannabinoids for the treatment of local inflammation.

Ok that sounds like a cool recipe Loph.

Why vaped weed and not active weed? Purely for the cannabinoids missed during the vape sesh?

I should mention, I've been using a Pax Vaporizer for about a year or more now.

Ive liked it a lot and definitely noticed a huge improvement but I still feel like it irritates my pathways and my lungs. Sometimes after using it I notice I get the wheezing and need the inhaler.

Also, could be other things as well. At the moment I need my inhaler pretty regularly about once a day, usually at night before bed or wake up needing it.

Could be diet, (which is pretty fucking clean at the moment, all plant based with loads of secret super foods and what not) or could be something else in my apartment triggering it.

Been checking out some natural remedies, use mullein and hibiscus tea daily, honey and other things, have a list of a few things I need to look into, i heard about Eucalyptus being one of them, also heard about Lobelia being good.

Matter of fact, soon as I finish up this bit of school work I think ill spend some time doing some research.

Appreciate your replies,

Can't help but love The Shroomery

The vaped material still has enough cannabinoids leftover to work topically but it's fairly weak to eat. Oh yeah vaping can still irritate the lungs a bit especially with how dry vapes can be, not sure if the Pax will work for it but I typically vape through a bong with hot water in it, hot water being the key. Also I use between 2 and 3 grams a day so I almost always have a jar or two of vaped weed around. One thing to keep in mind about this recipe is that it's meant to be applied to the skin meaning no matter how much THC you have in the mix you won't get high so why use fresh weed?

edibles can be very strong but take up to 2.5 hours to fully hit, wish it were faster, but not going to happen.

vaping is very fast acting (same as smoking) yet it makes me cough if I get a good hit, still I do like it (especially using shatter) since I can prepare a vape and use it for several days (instant gratification each time) before needing to refil it.

I've quit recreational cannabis completely, it was just an addiction for me.

You have to ask yourself, why can't I get away from it? Why do I want to keep using it? What medicinal benefits are you using it for? I tricked myself with that one for a long time.

If you can use it seldomly and have been in the past that's a good thing, even though cannabis addiction and withdrawal isn't the worst thing in the world just keep a look out for why and how you're using it

I'll have to write up an isopropyl alcohol extraction method. Theres a bit of chlorophyll in the end product but it's an insanely medicinal final product. Basically just mix and stir shredded plant material with 91% iso leaves stems bud everything. Strain with cheese cloth. I then burn off most of the alcohol in a rice cooker. Strain in coffee filters to get rid of some sediments and then return to a pyrex dish for the rest of the burn off. End result is a thick black oil that will fuck ya up. I make tootsie rolls infused with cannabis oil the most because of how easy they are to make and consume.

I will write it up because anybody can make it fairly quickly

Cannabis is definitely a chemically dependant substance to us therefore it definitely is addictive. Plus there are about 5 negative side affects I could list associated with consumption

Yeah I decided last night when I was considering vaping that no, I don't want to smoke.

I'll just keep going sober a while. I feel like I perform better in school and maybe I can actually get my life together

good on you Enkidu! sometimes these are the lessons we learn in life

I came to the same realization on a mescaline trip but I continued to abuse cannabis, then a couple of months went by and I had a microdose of ketamine and it bought up the same issue but the picture was clear..

Ive been off cannabis a month now and I haven't felt this good in a long time!

Calea Zacatechichi (Mexican Dream Herb) is the best. It gives you a slight buz and makes you have crazy dreams.

Yeah I really need to focus on getting my life together and I think it will be easier staying off weed and being able to pass a drug test if the need arises.

Now if I could only get my criminal history behind me too...

Maybe things would be ok...

Thanks for the comments and support

Completely determined to stay off weed at this point

A felony from just over 7 years ago now for assault. A cop said I pushed on his face and neck during an arrest which didn't even happen. Which is good it's past 7 years because at least it doesn't show up in a lot of background checks at this point. But still sucks because I almost have a degree in psychology and a lot of jobs I would be interested in pursuing, that information still shows up

Then I have drug charges from being pulled over with weed, so charges on my driver license I'm hoping with enough time I can get away from as well...

I think I read they typically go back about 3 years for driving records. I could be wrong.

It's hard to turn your life around when you spend so much time fucking up I suppose, but I'm really hoping I've been making process and eventually I can get away from my past and create a good life...

Yeah I actually considered trying them out since I want to continue no smoking and still haven't smoked

My dad actually has an online page where he sells them. He lives almost all the way on the other side of the country though so I haven't talked to him about it too much, but has been something I've considered

Thanks for the suggestion :super:

I've been using CBD for the last week after having headaches for a month from a concussion.

I bought it to help with the insomia mostly (haven't slept more than 3 hours a night in 29 days), but I've yet to notice any effect on sleep regardless of the dose, after trying 3 different brands. Headaches haven't really improved at all.

It does seem to take the edge off anxiety, slightly. I've been super stressed starting an intense grad program mixed with the insomnia, and I seem to feel a bit more mellow and functioning better after taking it. Honestly though Lemon Balm, Tulsi, and Ashwaghanda all seem to have more pronounced effects.

I really wanted CBD to do something for me, and possibly I just haven't found the right dose or brand... but this stuff's expensive.

Yeah it is expensive.

Damn man I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch.

I really hope you start to feel better and your sleep turns around as you begin healing.

And good luck with the grad program, good for you man :super:

I've read some essential oils can help with headaches.

I believe peppermint oil is one, place on your temples or something j believe. May want to look it up or I'll try and find it once I'm on my home computer
