All American sterilizer question
    #25738926 -

I’ve got an All American 1925, it works great but I always have micro leaks where the lid connects. Anyone else with an all American have this problem or am I sealing it wrong

Look for the little bubbles in the pic

I only have that problem when I don't tighten my lid down level. If one side is sticking farther above the other it usually starts bubbling like that. I just take my finger before I head it up and feel the space between the lid and pot and adjust as needed.

Also depending on how old your pot is getting you're supposed to periodically rub a bit of Vaseline on the lid and pot where they make contact. This is according to the instructions that came with it.

It’s only been used twice, bought it new online. I took a centimeter ruler all around when tightening the lid- it’s even and tight. I can only get it to where it bubbles small bubbles.. does your leak at all?

Not in the slightest.

Damn, it still works fine. I never get mold and I have quick colonization. Would it be a bad idea to put a strip of electrical tape around the rim rather than Vaseline

Yes, that would be a bad idea.  Rarely do I get a perfect seal on my aa and I’ve never had an issue.

As long as it retains pressure and the temperature gauge is good and reflects tye temp you want a small leak is negligable.

You've only used it twice. You haven't given it a proper test yet.

Maybe use more Vaseline. I would always put a pretty good layer. Make sure you're tightening it down properly. You have to kind of go in a star shape, like when you're mounting a tire on a car.

Have you read the manual? I bet doing that will solve all your problems.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

Too much vaseline makes it leak more.

Brand new AA often have a leak while it seats in for several runs. Make sure you are cranking 2 opposite side handles at the same time so its even pressure. After the sterilizer heats up and you are done venting pressure re-crank all the handles (opposing sides at a time) Just normal hand tight pressure is all that is needed, about as tight as you can by hand is good.
