Active mushroom species and/or boletes as a source of natural dye?

Recently picked up a copy of Dyes From Nature, a collection of accounts of plant- and animal-based dyes from around the world. Turns out there's a chapter on mushrooms as a source of a wide variety of dye colors.
After also reading the section on traditional production of indigo in Mexico (which involves aerating the mixture to oxidize the indigo), it got me wondering if the alkaloids in active mushrooms and other blueing species could be used similarly. Could be an interesting experiment if you decide to try out isolates and end up with a less-than-magical strain. They're not mentioned in the book (written in '91), but they do mention that plants that oxidize when the leaves are torn are the ones sought for indigo. Perhaps mushrooms are similar?
This factors beautifully into my fictional future life where I have a small farm home away from cities where I can avoid people and make everything by hand and there are just mushrooms growing all over the place. 😂

I found a book my dad had about this from the 70's but just about mushroom dyes, I dont remember what its called and I lent it to a friend. I'll try to get a hold of them and tell you the name. It had hundreds of pages of different color dye recipes. Cultivation is probably the wrong place for this post though :P

Yeah, I was looking through the forums and I wasn't sure where it belonged. 🙃 Mods, please feel free to stick this somewhere more appropriate.
There was a book mentioned in this one; I think it was The History of Mushrooms for Color? Something like that; I don't know if that rings any bells.

I was just about to start some small test batches using old cubensis to dye some cloth. Hoping it'll produce a blue color, just a simple novelty obviously. I just like the idea of dying a single white T-shirt blue with psilocybin, maybe some socks
Here's some brief notes I've been collecting on the subject. Perhaps you'll have a suggestion or two since you've read that mushroom dye book, I've never even tie dyed before and have just been going off of internet articles.
Was thinking after I do some quick color tests I'd just soak mushrooms/cloth in some water/ammonia solution. I'm guessing I should probably heat it up and let it soak for a good 30-60 minutes. Should it be a boil, simmer? Maybe you don't know but I've never seen somebody else with this same idea so I'm asking random questions.
But I'd read in a couple different posts here that cubensis soaked in ice cold water yielded a bluer color than usual so we'll see

I've definitely seen people using psychedelic mushroom dye on here. Can't find it for the life of me, but it has been done before for sure.
