Metaphors for Reality
    #2573479 - 04/18/04 11:49 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

God is a metaphor for the Universe.
To explain reality, people examined how "god" works with religion. To explain reality, people examined how the universe functions through science. The soul/spirit is a metaphor the human conciousness. The mind is a metaphor for the human conciousness.

Shouldn't outdated and inaccurate ways of explaining reality be replaced? When?

Do not think that you can define god as simply 'the universe' god is and is not at the same time. Not everyone examines how the universe functions through science for their entire veiwpoint, but rather rely on personall experience and experimentation proven to oneself for 'how the univerise works.

"The soul/spirit is a metaphor the human conciousness"
Somewhat yes, but once the 'human' part of the consciosness 'dies' the 'mind' still lives on, because as someone said conciousness IS life
..
"Shouldn't outdated and inaccurate ways of explaining reality be replaced?"
Kind of like how humans think it is 'ok' to fuck up the world. Why do we not change and replace the system with one that works? Patterns have a STONG hold on society.
