I dont buy the claim that the nhl apologized to Vegas. Rule book reads that a cross check resulting in injury is 5 minutes at the discretion of the ref. Pavs was nearly dead out there.
Either way, 4 goals on a single power play is inexcusable. Imagine being Eakin and hearing that horn go off every 30 seconds after you get ejected.
Anyway, game 4 against Colorado is tonight. Paves is still out but Couture is on fire right now.

I think it the Avalanche will make it but lose. Wait they are pretty much done for. I think the Shroomery sports section is dead and outdated.

Yes, the sports forum has got boring since we stopped fighting all the time. That was pretty fun. It will pick up for the NFL season.

Makes sense for one to respond to a post when rolling. I don't care who wins now, I fucking hate the Sharks because I hate San Jose. I fly into it then take a bus to Santa Cruz and stay in Capitola.
Nothing to say about your White Sox? Seriously, do you go to any games?

I've been to one White Sox game since they built the new stadium in 1990. I spend my money on Blackhawks games, but they have sucked for two years.

God. Don't bitch about the Blackhawks, back on topic. Last time I was in Denver and people still told stories of the one Ave's championship then and she was bitching being from Chicago that they were behind in the series though winning it the year before.
They won the series and championship anyway. It is like Yankee fans, Red Sox fans, Red Wings fans, Patriots fans. Laker fans. One is never enough. Every year and it gets boring as fuck.
Chicago is weird. It is like traveling from the airport to twin cities that are one. I don't know, I just hate San Jose and hence I hate the Sharks. Just glad the Ave's made the playoffs actually.
NHL is strange compared to the other three major sports. Betting and spreads, the way the game is played, the rules. I played the other major three guess why it is hard for me to really get into it as I never had the size to play it. I love cities that have all four. MLS doesn't count.

And the Pats aren't going to win next year, I guarantee that. For who wins this championship, going with St. Louie. But don't bet on it.

That Aves team had two championships. I jumped on the bandwagon as soon as they got Patrick Roi to go with Sakic and Forsberg. I even bought a hat. Nobody knew what it was. They thought I was an Angels fan.

I hate the term bandwagon fans. I get it. Seeing a truck, of course it is a truck when the steelers and yankees both won the championship so this asshole puts up stickers of both of them on his rear windshield.
Not a bandwagon fan. I like sports and competition. And if it is played well I will pay to see it. Rockies, Broncos, Nuggets, and Avalanche. God, the more I think about it the more I want to move back to Denver.
Vacation is good enough for now. Coming up soon. Why does Delta seem like a luxury airline nowadays and Frontier like the Greyhound of the skies?
But I worked and moved there the year after they won and I get Roy and people telling me how during the workday up on that floor how much they enjoyed the parade. I love Denver. I love Chicago. Some cities that are sports towns I love. No for something to make one feel depressed before I finish my last beer and crash at 2 a.m.
Notice the beginning.

I'm all for abandoning my local team if they literally stop trying to win. I stopped following the Hawks for years when Dollar Bill Wertz wouldn't pay anybody who was good. His brother Arthur did the same thing in the early 70's and Bobby Hull left to join the WHA in Winnipeg. When Bill died and his son Rocky took over it was a miraculous transformation. We had it so good until the Hawks became a victim of their own success with the tight NHL salary cap.
I don't abandon the White Sox because I think management is at least trying. It's just not working out. Jerry Reinsdorf is an OK owner. I got lost last night driving from the south suburbs to the north side and went right past Guaranteed Rate Field. My Garmin GPS works for shit.

Lol. There was a guy that used to post here in the sports forum a while back that lived on the North Side and was a massive Cubs fan. Better to get lost, especially at night on the North Side instead of the South.
I love Chicago. All of it. In the worst of Winter and the Summer. Some cities people just like to visit continually. Though he did live on the South Side which always made me laugh.
But yeah, knowing the history of your favorite franchises is interesting.
The Blues, first time in decades. I thought of living in St. Louis once glad I changed my mind. I will always love the four major teams in Denver. I like it when teams win that haven't for a long time.
Betting on Golden State to win the championship or the Patriots to win the AFC East is like stealing from casinos each year. One follows sports why not make some money off it? I thought it would be Toronto and G.S. in the Finals and might be that way but won't matter despite Toronto evening it up.
Never even visited St. Louis. They love the Cards but no clue if it is a hockey town or not and it sucks they lost the Rams. Not a big fan of S.D. losing their team either.
This post sucks as I don't follow the NHL that much but sports are sports and I like sports fans. NHL thread so all I am going to say is I would like the Blues to win. Don't know if it is a rivalry in all sports with Chicago teams and St. Louis but I look forward to who wins it.
Never been to an NHL game strange enough before though people have recommended it strongly. Just glad to see the Aves were back in the playoffs again, been a long wait.

There once was a real strong Hawks Blues rivalry, but I haven't really sensed it being like that since the 80's.
Live NHL games are about four times as exciting as any other sport. It is twice as fast as it looks like on TV and every rush down ice gets the crowd excited. And it's not like the NBA where they score most of the time.
I will be surprised if the Blues don't choke but I guess I'll be happy for them if they win. They have been in the league since the first expansion from the original six in 1967. Their only other trip to the finals in 1970 they got swept by Boston.

Got their first win in Boston. 50 years, learning as I go as the NHL has always been #4 in America and Canada. Haven't followed it much. You are the first person I have heard that said it is better to watch it is 4x better then in person. I get your point about scoring.
Why I don't like number 5, MLS here. They expanded the nets of course years ago because it was soccer/football scores in games but it seems like it is a happy medium now. Really want the Blues now. Especially since it is a baseball city and all they have is two major teams. And how long it's been since they have been good. The got Hull, I remember that but guess didn't do anything with it, more of a ticket draw is my guess.
Never seen one in person. Still guessing Bruins are most likely heavily favored and will probably win the series. They show the games on the weekends as I stream but on regular networks on the weekends. Taking Boston, not betting just going with them in the next one even on the road. Just glad the fans get to see one after 50 years. Would be happy if the Blues do win the series though. Boston teams win everything, it gets old.
There is a picture of Billie Belicheck waving a Bruins flag before a game in game two and they lost it in OT of course. Never easy. Hockey fans amuse me but in a good way. They are really passionate about it and it is like a party and rowdy. Wondering how much undercover security he had around him doing that even at home, lol. Still cool to me he did it though.

Hockey is #4 in the U.S. It's the clear #1 in Canada.

Definitely go see an NHL game or even a minor league game if the team has a good home crowd.

Shitty how they used to have the major minor team for the Ave's here in SLC but changed it to Hicksville on the West Side where it is basically rookies, if they use that term in the NHL, I don't know but it is the lowest level of hockey and I don't even know if they have a parent team. Will just go see the Ave's.
Ordered 3 tickets behind home plate for the Triple AAA Bees and will wear an Angels cap, parent team. Right behind home plate for only 20 dollars each. When I go see the Rockies in a week the same tickets would cost at least 150 each.
Your White Sox almost hit the .500 mark which surprised me. Was wondering why the jokes ran dry on them, lol. Shit I love Summer and the Rockies are rolling.

And yes I am well aware that Hockey is number one in Canada. But can you tell me without looking it up, or any poster on this thread, when was the last team from there to win a NHL championship as I know it has been a hell of a long time. Olympics don't count.

Wow, St. Louie is favored. Though -110 is basically just paying the sportbook fee. Have to go with the Bruins in all of them. Sometimes just ride the wave to its end though I would prefer it the other way.
"Blues shake up lineup, but Binnington remains." ESPN headline.
Hence the last part, really empathized.
