looks like a clump of gymnopilus spectabilis or a close relative to me. my money's on it being a gym but a good description and/or better pics are needed if you want to be sure.

I can't tell for sure from the pic, but it seems like the third pic may be boletes. Their color and the way they are clumped together does resemble gym, but it looks like they lack gills and have tubes.
maybe Suillus luteus? What kind of conifer is it under?

look like gills to me... Never seen any kind of bolete clump up like that either.

They're definitely not s. luteus, good call though, more info would be good.

Those are definately Gymnopilus mushrooms and yours could be one of several species that are closely related to G. spectabilis but (for the most part) can only be told apart with the aide of a microscope viewing the details of its spores and gill structure.

There are over 250 different species of Gymnopilus, and only about 8 from that group contain psychoactive chemicals, and of those eight i believe that they all stain a bluish green color after drying, with the exception of spectabilis and i do not believe that one stains any bluish color.

Exactly what type of tree/stump did you find them growing?

Was there a noticeable orange veil around the stems?

Did you notice any bluing on them before or after drying?

I also live in Adelaide. Let us know if you find any subs later on in the season. Is this your first time hunting?
