I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but if you build another mono, don't worry about painting the bottom black. (I did the exact same thing with my first mono.) I'm guessing you did that to prevent side pinning, but that's caused by microclimates (gaps, air pockets, etc.) on the sides as opposed to light reaching the sub. So there's some time you can save in the future if you move up a size. I've had good luck with tub liners keeping side pins away, but there are a lot of TCs and other growers who don't bother and have great success anyway.

Thanks, and yeah I have quite a few side pins anyways, learned from experience on that. I was thinking about doing a 66 quart next time because the lid on my 58 quart isn’t very good, but it works. I bought my sub from a sponsor and I like the level it puts in my 58 quart though. If I go bigger I might lose some depth of my substrate, not sure how much though. With this setup, my sub is 4 inches deep, without a casing.
