So... I don't fuss with brf cakes any more... but I've never heard anyone with your experience recommend doing this as (from what I've heard) "increases the chance of contamination". I'd love to know the truth of all that, as I hate spreading bad info.

I've done this today, although it hadn't stalled I was just being impatient and it wasnt a big bit of cake it was just a small piece on the bottom. It's fine imo:shrug: (just needs a good rinse under the tap)

But thanks for the info. I'm not going to say where I heard it, but I think that the logic comes from "when mycelium is colonizing is when it's most susceptible to contamination" and then... running wild with it.

This is super dry, hence the cap splitting (I'm sure you know). I use a "super/ultra fine misting" bottle because of similar humidity/cold issues and it has helped a lot. It prevents over watering that I found can happen easily with regular spray bottles, and is gentler on the fruits/myc/sub. They're not cheap, but very very worth it!

I'm definitely going to look into getting a better misting bottle like you are talking about. My mist bottle is pretty good but it throws out the occasional large droplet and it leaks large droplets a little some times too.

For now I realized that this little walmart lens cleaner bottle throws out a damn fine mist so I am going to give it a shot until I get the pro version

even I can't believe how shitty that pic is.. lol I'm sorry

Just like how Jared Fogel lost all that weight switching to the Subway diet  didn’t know mushrooms helped people lose weight. They do have the potential to change your hardwiring though. Congrats on the weight loss

This is the one I use and it works well, puts out a fine mist and has a decent water capacity.

The uncolonized substrate is subject to contamination, not otherwise healthy mycelial growth
