Are ziplock bags autoclavable?  Perhaps not the thin ones but the thicker freezer bags?

Only pp5 plastics can be used. Any plastic that has the number 5 is good. I use Chinese takeout containers sometimes.

B4 u even ask, oven bags are not good either lol.

I use oven bags all the time, they are just super thin and tear easy.

Oven bags may be fine as long as long as they don't have to stand any force.
For me they did not survive being stuffed with straw...
Trying to PC soaked straw pellets even blew a sous-vide type plastic bag because I didn't leave enough room for expansion. Apart from that they can be autoclaved well and are really tough.

Maybe I've got "oven bag" wrong. Aren't these the bags you stuff your meat in and then put it all together in the oven at 160°C (320F).
Thin clear plastic, slightly stiff, tears easily and rustling? Reminds me a bit of cellophane.

Hm, one was toppits and the other a noname brand from a German supermarket...
But these are really weak and it's a tube so I had always issues getting the bottom tight.

Any reason not to buy and use the "proper" spawn bags? I see them online for around 30c each... probably cheaper than the supermarket ones! Forgive me if this is also a stupid question; I've not used them myself.
