Just putting it out there, but this is a great read..Died nearly 20 years ago and yet his visions of the internet and technology were almost spot on

All my Caerulescens clone plates start out the way this one did.  Maybe I just need to let them go and case the plate,😂😂😂

Hi there,

I saw someone asked a question about low temps on this chain but I didn’t see a specific answer.  I’ve been away for a few days and it got really cold in my house - about 48 degrees.  I knocked up some jars before I left and am wondering if there is any adverse reaction to the colonization process or what will they respond when the temperatures reach the right level?

They should continue at regular pace after the temps come back up. Ppl refrigerate grain masters all the time!

As far as I understand, colonization is just going to slow down proportionately when temps are sub 65 F. Cube mycelium will not tolerate freezing temperatures, but above that it should survive. Upon returning to higher temperatures the mycelium should respond with increased vigor and colonizing speed. I'm sure someone with more experience would likely give a more informed opinion.

Both are risky business. Last night I harvested 850g wet and they dried to 54.5g

Hollow stems? Seems like you lost more weight than I usually do. I'd expect about 70g out of 850g wet.

I think they were past mature and had excess water weight. I harvested after dinner and board games instead of beforehand.

I’d say that its a matter of technique more than anything. I’ve never worked with syringes and injection ports before so I can’t speak to their efficacy but again, imo it’s a matter of which technique works best for your setup

Third option: Pouring LC.

I find injecting doesn't give me any more safety than pouring LC. YMMV. I haven't done G2G in a while, as my LC bottles do more than enough grain jars.

To increase colonization speed, I'm testing out putting in a removable core in grains before sterilizing. Core is made from a wooden dowel. Open jar, remove core with forceps, close jar, open bottle, open jar, pour LC, close jar, close LC. Grains seem to filter out the myc from LC when pouring.

I just picked up two tweezers and I'm gonna use em with my scalpel to clone some plate fruits after I PC em all. I'm gonna put one on a plate, one in a LC and the others into pints of oats.

I wouldn't take tissue straight to lc, clean it on agar and do a blenderless LI , or best of both worlds (IMO) SAGARI

Its from a pasty plate, you still wouldn't bother? I suppose I ought to do it right. I never have had a clean LC...

Does anyone use LEDs for lighting? I just bought a few 6500k LED strips. Don’t know anything about lights but figure they will work just as well?
