Are you from the US or the EU? (or somewhere else?). If you are from the EU it is very easy. If you are from the US it becomes much more difficult. A job that you could for sure get in the summer is grape-picking - but this is hard work, out in the sun, long hours, and you probably will camp on-site. I'll ask around and find some resources for you...

Well, from my time in North America, the best advice I can give you is as follows.

Be friendly.

One of the biggest problems a lot of travellers experience is that they have a surly attitude. Alwyas remember that, even with language barriers, mental sets are contagious. If you exude niceness people will tend to be nice(there are still people who have poor wiring and are just not very nice for whatever reason, but they'll be not very nice no matter what we do).

Be aware.

Always notice your surroundings. Pay attention to people.

Try to learn as much about the language and culture as you can. Allow yourself to be educated by the people who live there.

Most people really like their country and see it as a way to talk about themselves. People really like talking about themselves. This works well with tip 1.

Well, although that's both sufficient and ideal for a resort in ie Greece (maybe an island?), being fluent in either German or some Scandinavian language really ups your shots of getting a job there. The islands are just overflowing with Swedes, Norwegians, Englishmen and Germans.

I once spun some records at a club on Crete, near Heraklion, for about a week. It was sweet. Me and the current girlfriend got to drink for free (among other things) all through the stay.

I have a friend who's spent some time working in Kos if I'm not mistaken... You should get one of those 'last-minute' deals with round tickets, at some shitty unspecified hotel for a week or two. They don't go for much, I think the cheapest type of package I've landed was about ?170. Just enjoy your vacation, and at the same time try and find some work. Check the bars and what not. They're always interested in getting ie guys who can help "throw customers into clubs". It's always a start, and will buy you time to get something better. Being fluent in English is, of course, absolute key. So you being from the UK is a good start.
