I'll be dropping that Galindoi to grain pretty soon tho.

What cares? Just do it at the end of your culture work and clean up. Ambient sporeload is a hoax.
There is no reason to fear a little green on a petri dish. That's the point of agar imo, to make clean cultures.

There are probably enough spores in the air anyway to make no difference I imagine, right?

Yeah 100%.
Just wipe with alchol after you're done workin with the contammed plates...voila. if your super paranoid then after that let the hood run in the room for a couple hours. It'll scrub all that bullshit.
Anything you can do in a sab, you can also do in front of a hood. Cleaning cultures is DEFINITELY okay in front of a hood

Yeah I open my moldy plates in front of the hood. But I kinda make sure when I open it the mold spot is at the 6 o clock section.

I do all of my spore work/ innocculations in a seperate small room that I do not have anything in except a plain clean desk(has a plastic coating, metal may be even better tho, anything but old furniture with deep wood grain) and my Sab and materials and I only enter the room butt naked fresh from a shower. I put a mask n gloves on n hit that room with disinfectant spray for a few mins. And all the other good stuff; hand sanitizer, ISO... The sab is always within 'sterile' range this way(still need sanitizing ofc.) and nothing enters or leaves the room without being pre sterilized and placed in a tote or bag. -this room also doesn't have any vents of any kind, one door and no windows.
Thats just me tho I don't do any agar work yet(I getting some very soon tho) just syringes and LC a.t.m.. I refuse to compromise weeks worth of work for not putting in a lil extra time into sterile procedure. I have not encoutered any contams at all since I began doing this level of clean, obviously some jars will have off water content or etc. And not germinate correctly, but no contams ever.
Lol reading it now I sound freaking crazy to be honest.

Caps McGee said: Are you colonizing substrate and all invitro, and then spawning tubs? What's the advantage there?
Simplified Bottle tek (only grains and coir/verm 1:1) in quart PP5 deli containers. The substrate is kept all the time in these containers. They are dirt cheap so that's not a problem. I can fit 14 of these containers into one 41 liter unmodded tub, yield wise it's about the same to spawning.
One advantage is, if one sub contaminates the other ones won't. I have heavy mold problems since I've moved earlier this year. This place seems to be fcked trich wise.
