For whatever reason I can't get cakes to fruit but I can get those trays to fruit, i think trays are alot easier for me to tell when to mist and requires less up keep

Damn mushboy those are some fatties! I still put my trays in an SGFC and they seem to work way better than the cakes, ill have to expirement with adding some manure in to try and get a bigger flush

substrate doesnt determine size. conditions and genetics do. conditions are easier to control too so just fart around with what works.

Re: Woohoo success!! [Re: mushboy]

That makes sense, I always figured the more nutrients in the substrate the bigger and fatter the fruits, so what would be optimal conditions for a big fruit? Just closer to the right temps and humidity?

Is that your first grow? Well done! I didn't have astounding results with my SGFC, first time around. Then again I was operating on a lot of outdated info. Fanning multiple times a day :facepalm3:

Learned a lot from your "Making shoeboxes" thread. Can't wait to try it. I've got about 16 cakes colonizing while I get together the fixins for agar, G2G and all that awesome shit.

(I'm a noob) Seems like access to water is a large factor. Larger substrates can sometimes hold onto water better, especially if you're in a drier environment.

brf is one of the most nutritious things you could use. our substrates are super nute heavy. its more about available water.

cakes hold shit for water so rarely do you see huge fruits.

ignorant people then connect to two imaginary dots(brf=small). then it gets parroted around for others(you) to read and interrupt as hard evidence.

I never knew that, I figured cakes held good water, I'll have to try adding in more water to the substrate (just misting more) to try and get bigger fruits
