AA+ myc. Stupid solid

AA+ is a new one for me and I love it! This variety is faster than any I have ever used and apparently a lot thicker than any other I have used. So thick I couldn’t get my grain spawn out of the jars! After beating my hand black and blue trying to get the spawn out I ended up just grabbing my exacto and busting it out with that..... seriously though, It was so incredibly strong I’m damn impressed. Just for the record I tried a bike tire and my thigh, neither of which could provide the sharp blow I can provide with the side of my fist and still that couldn’t do it:lol: they hadn’t even been sitting,  actualy they are fresh as hell and just hit 100%. I can’t wait to see what they do when they fruit.

I had one of the best trips of my life off a couple live aa+ mushrooms.  The spore prints they drop are equally as beautiful.  A mono probably corrects this to some degree but I think I recall reports saying they have a tendency to throw fewer but bugger fruits so on a cake for example you’ll get one whopper with a little buddy or two instead of 20 little uniform guys.  I have no idea how accurate that is but if you end up liking the aa+ check out the rusty whytes going around.

That's not a good thing! Thick spawn that u can't break up in a couple whacks is normally highly bacterial and won't grow any mushies sorry :frown: I've tried to spawn this stuff before and it just sat there for months not growing anything and it never fully colonized. Then it eventually got moldy. It was bright white too wasn't it? Do u have picture tho? That would help... Its not the AA+ tho my AA+ mycelium looks like any other mycelium... You should move this thread to mushroom cultivation tho you'll get more responses

I think (at least a few years ago) it was highly recommended to snag the proper looking myc from an agar dish (moreso than for other mushrooms) otherwise aa+ was known to be slow or not really produce.  I didn’t know that about the bacteria, I thought it showed itself through slime, what makes the myc get hard when it runs into bacteria?

Just a few from the others, all pearly white and no odd smells or empty spots etc. . All colonized stupid fast, I used LI from agar. I’m no noob so I’m pretty confident they are just aggressive as hell. Here is how it went down. I took a piece of gill from a AA+ mushroom(some thing I have done plenty of times) and put it to agar, spotted an insane rhizomorph so I grabbed it and put it to 2 new plates and let it grow out, then to 5 new plates. After that I took the best 2 plates and made LI in which I inoculated 14 quarts. After making 3 shoe boxes, I am left with 8 more quarts all problem free besides being thicker than aunt jemima.

When you break those up in the jar doesn’t the myc and moister get on the lid filter and cause contams?

The condensation is just because my room has shitty insulation so there are some temp changes

When a jar gets fully colonized it gets condensation. The mycelium growing will cause it to warm up a slight bit and cause condensation at the end. Same with pf tek. When the jars are 100% they have condensation too. And yeah those jars don't look like what I was thinking of they look good :thumbup: I was thinking of so thick and solid that you can't even see the color of the grains type thing.
