Nope,I actually don't grow much in the way of edibles other than the occasional oyster.
It would have been a cool one just to throw on a plate though.
I'm kind of kicking myself over not grabbing a piece.

Here are some more finds from that day.

It's Dec, ice everywhere yesterday, yet I still found these beautiful clone prospects.

Indeed. I hope I can get the Lions mane to take off. I cut some big chunks out of the base, going to tear them in the sab. First time cloning Lions mane.

Beautiful little critters, and so many of them in one place! Taricha is one of my favorite genera of foreign salamanders, such amazing toxin in their skin!

Good question. I approached to take pics of the mushrooms and they started crawling out in all directions, easily a dozen of them. Maybe it was some kind of kinky mushroom party.

As exciting as that sounds, sadly it's doubtful. The mushrooms provide a lovely humid environment where the newts can hide, and at the same time eat all the lovely bugs and slugs that come to feast on the rotting mushrooms. Newts themselves don't eat mushrooms.
That must have been an amazing sight, I would probably wet myself if a dozen of California newts rushed out of a bunch of mushrooms at me! :awesome: (you can probably guess, but one of my main private and professional interests is newt conservation.)

That's cool. These are fairly common in the Santa Cruz mountains so I wasn't too surprised to see them all.

I live close to the the only known area for Limestone Salamanders, I have made it a goal to observe one.
