Possible allergic reaction to shrooms?
    #25702729 -

Alright guys this is something that I have never heard of however I do believe I have unfortunately developed a minor allergy to my most favorite psychedelic. To be honest it's actually a very strange thing and makes me wonder if it's something I'm doing wrong in the cultivation process.

I first ingested mushrooms when I was 18, I am 2 1/2 months away from turning 30. Mushrooms have been in my life on and off since the first time I used them, however do to some unfortunate life situations I REALLY got into them this year mostly for personal and spiritual growth.

Up until the beginning of this month I had never even had the slightest problem consuming them aside from the expected occasional anxiety when I've accidentally got a little to far out there.

The beginning of this month I was moving some cakes around in the fruting chamber when I accidently knocked off a couple tiny ass pins. I thought to myself eh only a couple pins but I don't want them to go to waste....down the hatch.

Within no more then 2 minutes I felt the classic symptoms of having a minor allergic reaction (very familiar as I recently developed a allergy to poultry strange as that is) throat started feeling really scratchy, irritated if you will also started feeling a little swollen (Not anywhere close to the point where it would affect breathing but noticeable) as well as my lips felt scratchy and a little swollen as well.

To be honest because I had eaten them quite a few times in the past I just chalked it up to basically anything BUT the shrooms. About 2 weeks later I was doing some harvesting, had the house to myself for the day, though heh what a good opportunity for some fresh mushrooms. Decided to prepare and consume them by boiling water soaking and making some fresh mushroom tea (only a baby dose of 15-20 grams) still plenty enough to give me some crazy visuals that I had never experienced off that little of an amount, but 0 feeling a of allergic reaction.

Last night (Christmas eve) I ate 3 grams of Ecuador fruits and 0.5 gram of random aborts, once again, only this time much more quickly. By the time I had swallowed the last mouthful there it was, scratchy irritated swollen throat, and scratchy irritated swollen lips. Right away I got scared I was NOT ready to deal with a allergic reaction and tripping at the same time. I ate a peanut butter sandwich drank a Gatorade and by the time the very first light visual distortions began it was all gone!! (MASSIVE RELIEF!)

Actually I can NOT stress how massive a relief this was. This 3 gram fruit and half gram abort trip for WHATEVER REASON was single handedly the most profound psilocybin experience I have EVER had. Maybe the fruits were very potent, maybe it was because it was the first time I had ever done it in silent darkness, or maybe it was the aborts added to the mix I don't know but almost 24 hours later and I'm still trying to piece together what all went down.

ANYWAYS....is this something that any of you have ever heard about happening, could there be something I'm doing during cultivation that could be causing this effect. I thoroughly dry to the point the thickest part of any given fruit cleanly snaps right in 2 when you try to bend and they had been stored in zip lock bags for no more then maybe 2 weeks.

The reason I'm wondering if it's something I'm doing is because I had never in my life had this happen until I started consuming my own. I also found it interesting that nothing like that happened when I had the tea. Possibly hot water cleaned off any thing that could have been on them or possibly it's just something that has developed over time and it's the fruit itself coming into contact with my mouth causing it and since the actives were pulled out in the tea and the actual fruit bodies discarded that's why it didn't happen? I just don't know.

I'm going to try some experiments in the future very small doses again in tea and also ground to powder and put into capsules to see if i can still ingest safely. All I know is this can't be it for me!

Psilocybin therapy as I like to call it is helping me gain my life back....this just can't be it.....thoughts?? Opinions?? Similar experiences (personally or someone you know/Have heard about) I would really appreciate any engagement in discussion on this topic. Thank you guys so much! I love you!!

I would learn how to make paragraphs and then use tea from now on if it gives no adverse effects.
Be sure to test with a tiny amount though and remember I am not a doctor and neither is anyone else here.
If you think it to be danjha danjha danjha don't do it.

Could be contaminants, I doubt the actual mushroom is the culprit.

you might have an allergic reaction to mushrooms in general. it's rare, but it's more common in people who are allergic to other stuff already. you could try eating other mushrooms and seeing if you get the same reaction - if so you might want to sea a doctor and test for it.

since tea gets rid of the mushroom body that might be why you didn't get an allergic reaction - it might be fungal cells you're allergic to, not the actives in the shrooms. if that's the case i guess you'd have to stick to tea.

Your are correct. It wasn't even suppose to be that long I'm not really sure what happened there.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm just gonna chill out for a while and try again a little later on. Start off making tea with small amounts see how that works.

I used to always get this strange sensation in my throat whenever I ate mushrooms. It was difficult to swallow, and felt like something was stuck in my throat- almost like a ball of phlegm that wouldn't move or something.

Fast forward to now, that no longer happens to me. I suspect improperly dried mushrooms were the culprit, as I don't recall ever eating 'cracker dry' shrooms before drying my own

Just a guess though....

Ive had similar issues, everytime I ate the dried fruit id get itchy as hell! Like really bad for a couple hours, and got so I didnt want to use them anymore. I didn't want to except this fact because I started using them for major depression so I tried it as a tea..... Havent had any issues since. Try making tea, make a stong green tea first, then boil your shrooms for about 20 mins, strain out the mushie flesh and squeeze out the liquid, put in a little more water and resqueeze it again to get all the Actives out, add a cap or 2 of lemon juice and honey to taste. I let that sit till it cools then bottoms up!
Hope it helps you bud

Allergies to mushrooms are not uncommon but if tea solves the problem what's not to like?  :awecid:

Aborts can be much stronger than you think they are, I've had some wild ass trips when consuming immature fruits...

It can all be in ur head. That's are hard thing to swallow, but things u think while ur tripping, ur mind can make them real. The placebo effect to the max.

I have a few weird querks when I trip and they developed over the years from tripping.
