Easiest way to break this to my parents? * 1

When I graduate college i fully intend to move to the west coast.

I currently live in the south east.

Now some people may be content staying in one spot their entire life, but I want to see the world.

I plan on living there until I get financially stable, and maybe even longer if I land a good job. Then id love to move to Canada for awhile.

Now I know this will be very hard on my mom, she is pretty overprotective, nearly killed her (not literally) when I moved only an hour away for school. I go visit normally 2 times a month (2 weekends),

I love my mom but I got to live my own life. Its not like she will never see me again anyway.

Im expecting an emotional, angry reaction from her. She will probably try to tell me I can't move, guilt trip me, etc.

I dont know how my dad will react but hes much more rational so im not very worried about that.

Anyway, I dont just want to throw it at her at the last minute, I want to give her time to process it... Thats why im going to tell her a few years in advance lmfao.

I just dont really know how to go about it...

Probably best to just be honest with her about your dreams of travelling the world, experiencing new things.

And dont forget to mention you wont move away for years into the future.

Maybe start with some small vacation trips away from home first to get her used to it :shrug:

This is excellent advice, except I would change the "I think I want" to something more committed (and clean up the syntax a bit). You're making the right decision if this is how clingy she is. Also, she's got to know what a gaping shit hole the South East is.

bro, ive lived outside of Alabama for 6 years and its so awesome. there is so much more world to explore than podunk town whatever. i travel alot for work and i love it man. i actually get anxiety when i go back "home" to visit.
