What's Christmas like in your family?

Parties?  Drama?  Gifts?

What's it like for you during this time of year?  Do you have a Hallmark type christmas time with the family around the fireplace with gifts and all these picture perfect moments or is it chaos, excessive drinking and family drama?

It would be cool to know how you guys feel this time of year.

Tomorrow the kids are gonna bound outta bed as soon as they wake up, they’ll be wide awake in an instant.  My fiancée and I will drag ourselves to the tree and lazily open gifts while the kids go at it in a frenzy.  Afterwards we’ll loaf around for a couple hours, then go to my ma’s for a Xmas brunch.  It’s usually some charcuterie style thing, I love it.  Then back home for more lounging, and me being grateful that we survived another Christmas.  I start taking down decorations on December 26.

i usually work and get drunk but i stopped drinking and am off tonight but work tomorrow. just another day, i am happy when it is over.

although the husband gets stocking for the dogs on the fireplace, it is cute to watch them go crazy over new toys and treats.

the only part of christmas I enjoy is the big dinner, the gift getting/receiving is getting old

I dont do christmas anymore.
My brother overdosed on some benzos and opanas in 2012 on christmas day.

At the risk of sounding corny, Christmas is great and has come full circle.  There are four siblings including myself.  Years ago, it used to be bananas in my house as the day approached. A decade or so passed and it became more about family time together.  Now, many of us have kids, so once again, the craziness of having kids this time of year has returned, but that has only made the family time more special. It’s a great time of year.

It’s a fucking marathon.  There’s like 30 people and 15 dogs all packed in one house and everyone wants to ask me lots of questions.  Everyone is in my face.  It would be cool to actually spend some time with my mom but she’s so busy “working” on Christmas that I just sit around being antagonized by people and their fucking dogs, 

Don’t get me wrong, I like dogs.  I like people, but when they are just in your face I just feel like hiding and going to bed.  It’s an extroverted marathon and I refuse to get drunk to make it through this time. 

My Godmother loves comparing me to her son who published a STUPID book about nothing at all.  It’s about fucking ladyboys in Thailand and I could barely finish it it’s so poorly written.  I told her I didn’t think it was a good book to discuss at dinner (or anywhere else) and she got all butt-hurt. 

Brother and his wife constantly fight and bicker about anything at all. 

Then there’s me: divorced guy.  No kids.  No family.  No dog.  No drink. 

I don’t care for Xmas,

Not too exciting. See the family, take naps. Ever since I got arrested I haven’t wanted to see my dads side. They all know, and last time dropped hints at it. Not really looking forward to that tomorrow

Christmas is just another day to me. With the exception of going along with everyone else's cheer and bullshit. December 25th is just another day on the calendar for me. Merry Christmas everyone :lol:

I mostly just go along with it for other people as well. But the turkey dinner part is pretty awesome. Sometimes I'll get a small turkey for cheap in the off season. They'll go on sale for $1/lb sometimes.
