You can do it that way, or use the lid of each individual shoebox, and flip an empty shoebox on top when the fruit get tall enough... bottom water by pouring a bit of water into a corner, let it sit for a few hours, drain and return to fruiting conditions

Awesome. So the Coir that I got is a huge bag from eco earth from pet smart. It's not in brick form and already shredded up. That will work fine right?

I can't attest personally, but I have seen it in other grows... doesn't seem to be much different

Getting some cubes back in the rotation!

2 SBโ€™s of the Roatan Honduras clone I took from the 2nd flush of my last grow and one SB of Brazilians which are new to me.

Spawned my first jar of APE.  Spores were from a @Just_A_Noob swab I got in a trade.  Shook my AA+ so thatโ€™s not far off as well my Cambodian clone.  Also had a Rusty White print that just arrived that I'm about to put to agar!  Lots going on and lovinโ€™ it!:-).

Need to start making some slants of my masters so I can keep trying new species.  Iโ€™ll be looking as well but does anyone have a link for a good slant Tek?

Thanks,

BB

We have about 4 people who are trying to follow this guide but it's still confusing.

What does CVG mean?

And PCVG?

I thought PC was pressure cooker in here but then what is CVG?

Also do you have to Pressure cook the coir? What if you don't have a PC?

CVG= Coir, Verm, Gyspum = Bulk substrate
PC is pressure cooker.
No you don't pc coir.
If you don't have a pc then you can't sterilize grains. Use BRF cakes instead, 4cakes = shoebox.

Thanks.

Yeah I have 18 fully colonized BRF cakes ready to go. So you can't make shoeboxes just mixing wet coir with shredded cakes? Because that is how everyone made it out to be.

Yes.

You hydrate the coir to field capacity and mix it up with shredded cakes.

Second shoe box first grow, this one was a little more than the last, 23 gram dry, not bad for a first for with ms!

So grade up my cakes, 4 to a tub, add water to coir, and mix them up?

Most people bucket tek their coir, which "cooks" it. Some coir isn't necesarry to pasteurize, some people pasteurize it just incase.

e/ in pm you asked - I'm trying to figure out how to get the proper ratios for making bulk but my coir came in a huge bag and it's not in brick form.

Field capacity. Look up field capacity if you don't know what it is. You probably want to pasteurize it as well because loose coir is commonly for gardening and may contain added microbes beneficial to plants, but bad for shroom growing.

Compressed bricks go further and easier to get to field capacity with bucket tek.

Yeah I'm just super confused because my coir isn't in brick form it's loose in a giant bag. So all the guides and ratios I see are all confusing the crap out of me.

@Rot.
Sounds like you have a lot of reading and research to do.
Check here for Bods coir prep.
Then take your cakes and go here to spawn them to that prepped coir.

Just read that your coir is the loose bagged kind.
I don't know that there is a "tek" for prepping that, but you could just add water to an amount and when it is properly hydrated to field capacity,(test with the squeeze test) use it as you would prepped coir.

The issue is that I read too much. By doing so, I expose my self to hundreds and hundreds of bad information, mixed with the right information. I see so many different sources of information. This is why I ask questions to eliminate any sort of confusion or doubt in my mind.

If these forums aren't for asking questions and learning then perhaps I shouldn't be here.

people will point you in the right direction, but no one wants to spoon feed any one. Everyone seems to be nice so i don't understand your comment. Plus, not positive you have read much, you're questions are basic and there's no conflicting, outdated info in these areas.

You're right. My bad. They should shut down this forum and just have guides stickies remaining.

No need to be rude rot. Seriously, just scrap the coir you have. Chalk it up to an experiment. Put in your garden. Whatever you want.

Go to petco/petsmart. Get coir blocks in the reptile section. Follow bods coir tek from there. Then mix in the shredded cakes. It sounds overwhelming, but if you follow the tek it becomes pretty self explanatory.

Good luck!
