The Holly King must think I was good this year and blessed me with my best harvest from a single shoebox to date. Can't wait to take'em for a test run this afternoon.

Dang man, those are beafy! If you can Iβd really love a swab or two of that variety.

Not that i'd reccomend this, but because I've been having some contam issues, that box is only vermiculite. Bulk and thin top layer at spawn.
Given the results; I suspect pe's like a little something on top holding moisture and preventing matting during the long pinset time, but what exactly is used to case is probably secondary.

Although I'd say go ahead a mess around with that. It can definitely yield results from casing it late.

Away for vaca and just saw this- Def give it a try!
My clone had the closed caps until like 2 days before maturity, then they quickly opened (you can see them splitting in my sig). Some still had the PEU ish look but a few opened and left some nice prints actually.
I made spore syrignes from a print and they germinated in solution after like 2 weeks, I think these babies want to spread that printable genetics!
I have yet to test the white printable PEU potency- I am currently working off an SSRI and my life has been stupid busy with my PhD (I am taking comprehensive exams in the spring ) but I would like to try them soon.
I think verum got a light print from me and got germ after 3-4 days, so we should have a few people testing out how the next gen looks. Would be awesome to have a printable PE potency shroom, all the better if its a cool leucistic variety with some uncut cocks in there!
If anyone serious is interested in doing a grow from the ones in my sig, send me a PM and I can swab one of the prints I took, I don't mind doing a handful -______________________________ I used sub as casing at spawn, not thick. I was going to case with my jiffy mix but I got busy with life and it started pinning after 12 days anyways sooooo.. next time I will

My trouble shooting https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25611348
It was happening with everything for me. Oat jars(same oat batch that had been ok for months) & brf cakes, multiple varieties. Coir seemed to be the only connecting factor with all the failures so I'm fiddling with different pasteurizing times and set some verm only tubs as a test. The coir boxes died and verm only lived, all from same g2g batch.

I looked at it. I believe it. I was having problems with a big batch of eco earths once. I could tell after hydrating the bricks they the texture was more fine. Almost sandy. And when I buy coir its usually atleast 5 of the bigger boxes of it. So I was stuck with only part of this order being fuxked up coir. It sucked.
Also folks. If u can't post in the marketplace I can't trade with ya. Stick around though and keeping posting and maybe in the future.

We have lift off. Decent pin set coming in on top and a gazillion side pins. Had to put the lid seal side down, too dry here I guess.

You are what you eat. An organisms genetic expression is dependent on metabolic pool and environmental factors.

Did you tamp down the edges of your box? What I have found works absolute best is leveling my substrate(I dont get crazy about it) tamping around the edges, scattering/re-leveling my substrate and tamping a second time, then finally relevel my substrate. I've had several boxes with literally 0 side pins when surface conditions were on point. Also several boxes with only 1-2 side pins in the first flush.

@ LT. I've since changed brands of seed. Went back to Penningtons classic and problem is solved I think.
