need help with casing

whats wrong with my casing. its been like this for a week now with no sign of growth it seemed to all stop once i put it in my fruiting chamber. its been in there for over a week now. the humidity is at 85 and temp at 70

Give it a cople more days...I'll bet there's nothing wrong at all. It's not dried up is it? If not, I'd expect pins very soon.

Is that verm dry? Sort of looks like it from the pic. Is it getting good air exchange, what about light? I don't see any knots forming, that's unusual after a week of fruiting!

Hello Bruce3, Your casing does not appear to be bone dry from the picture. How deep did you make the casing if its to deep this could be the reason its taking longer than expected to show signs of fruiting.

the verm was still moist and top layer of casing was only 1/4 inch deep

70 Fahrenheit is equal to 21 Centigrade which is a little lower than you want it.

the slow colonisation could be down to slightly low temps and not enough air circulation, just a couple of ideas.

You should have let it colonize just a little bit more on the top surface before putting it in fruiting tempertures. The only reason it stoped growing mycelium is because the temps dropped from 85 im guessing to 70... This tells it "stop growing mycelium and lets produce some fruits" You will see some pins shortly. Dont worry. The only problem you might get is not to many pins.
