Has anyone tried sorghum as grain spawn?

I have reasently purchased some grain spawn that is sorghum. I am just considering whether sorghum is possibly a better alternative than millet? Understanding I can`t find rye so cancel it totally.
The spawn is Oyster spawn but I assume sorghum will work for all grain eaters?
Any comments on Sorghum?

I haven't used it but have heard of others using it, not from this site though. I wish I had some experience for you.

Sorghum is a component in many bird seed mixes and they work quite well. I have never tried it out side of bird seed mixes. It is listed in Stamets books as suitable.

I will run a few jars and a bag or 2 of sorghum to see how it rates against millet. Will keep all of you up-to-date.

I know this post is super old but I thought I`d just come back to post for Joshua's sake.
Bro I have been using sorgum very successfully for a few years now with oysters and cubes. It`s a very good grain and I find is very similar to rye. So which ever is easier to obtain should be used. For me sorgum is very easy to get.

Sorghum as grain colonized much faster than my jars with prepped rye. Maybe it's just the genetics of the strain, but I'm definitely going to buy more. If you have Bob's Red Mill brand items in your grocery store, that's where I find mine.

Sorghum AKA Milo. If it was as cheap as pats I would be about it, but I'm not wasting money on groceries for my mush. Oats are about $15/50lb.

Milo is all I use these days. I am getting 50lbs for $13 or so. Oats are for sadomasochists. Holy crap I don't know how you people use oats. Pinche oats.

I can load 10-15lbs in a pot, add water, boil for 30min, strain, and let air dry overnight, then load and PC jars for 2hrs. Basically I measure nothing and time only my PC run. All stages are forgiving enough that I can set it up and walk away. This is the benefit of the thick hull which is what supossedly makes them so "difficult"

I find no skill required, just a method to get your oats dry to the touch after they're boiled. I use a 3ft colander.
